Had a day at Capesthorne Hall's Balloon Show today, managed to catch a bit of the freestyle motocross lads doing their thing, it always impresses me that these guys don't kill themselves on a daily basis.

I find those guys to be missing some parts of their brain that contains self protective codes

Nice airtime shots there, weather looks like to be quite normal there, so bit difficult to get perfect shots, at least I find cloudy weather to put my photos to shame most of time.

These are taken with my Ixus 75:
Brown spider of some sort, probably harmless one again, it has huge ass.

This is really bad ass larva that I believe is Diprion pini, but I'm not 100% sure as it is missing black dots from side, however it was very young individual.

Story of fallen baby

So it happens, that this evening one baby falls out from nest and lands on railing of my porch:
Image
"Home is so high up"

Naturally baby's mother is worried...:
Image

...and lands next to him:
Image
"This netting looks dangerous!"

However young one is interested from new world he sees first time, roof is slippery...
Image

...so around the house he flies and there finds the wooden ladder, where is good to rest weak wings, mother follows right behind:
Image

After some encouraging words, baby finds window pane to rest on, but mother tells "fly to nest":
Image

He made it in, finally, but it took few attempts and one wood plank that I installed where he had better rest and then fly to nest from there.

Baby:

Mother (note worried expression on her face):
Image

Well, I'm not 100% sure that mother is mother, it can be father too

There are few more shots:

Oh and I did remove that metal wire mesh, it was to keep kids out from porch that is not used, but I have now another fence and soon there will be a ditch so I don't need it and it looks like that would be better to birds.

How close was I? Well, closest were within 40cm or about there, distance of reached arm, but at point of where elbow is, those kind of trust me.

Well then, are you a butterfly with small wings?

Or maybe butterfly knows it better and you have done it wrong?

They are quite cute, looking everything with great curiosity and poking stuff with their nose :D

Their nest seem to be tad small for them, I guess it starts to be time for them to try their wings, but none of them can find food themselves yet and they fly quite bad, well hopefully they will do ok.

Wow, some really impressive shots from lots of people, top work.

Seeing as wildlife seems to be a popular subject, here's a Blackbird in the rain.

And this is Tornado, the newest steam train built in the UK, and completed last year. (It was the one on Top Gear the other week.) It's doing some tours around the country and as it was near by I thought I'd take a quick look :)

Found this nice urban grasshopper hiding behind a broom, so had to snap photo of it, he really did not like from camera as he kept creeping to other side of that broom as I tried to turn broom so that I could take a photo from it

Thanks from comments, they call those illuminating night clouds over here (direct translation).

Found this Wiki article from those, it seems that english term is bit different from direct translation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noctilucent_cloud

I heard that those could be sign of upcoming cold perioid, but don't know that for sure, they are pretty, but as often in nature pretty can be warning of deadly and that is what those are if what I heard would be true.

Difficult to take good photo anyway as they move, but still you need long exposure as it starts to be again dark at night time, I can see stars again here, month ago it was impossible and in 4 months it is going to be rather dark times here and I can try to take photo of Galaxy or two :P
