Re: Photos
I think that my camera is busted, those red/purple things have appeared to top of each long exposure photos, quite annoying.

Re: Photos
Great photos
, sensor dust seem not to distract too much, but I know, when you know it is there, then eye will spot it.
I did some composition testing, must try it bit more, area where I have lot to work with.
Thirds, diagonals, light from side, blurred background, but what is wrong?

There was only one light source, two might been better.volvosneverdie wrote:two light sources, differing shaddow angles?

Re: Photos
I would have snooted the light to avoid spill onto the background (doesn't look like a flash, hot light/desk lamp?) and I can't really tell where on the glasses you focused (I guess it was on the rim?), but otherwise I can't really see anything wrong.jtbo wrote:Great photos, sensor dust seem not to distract too much, but I know, when you know it is there, then eye will spot it.

Couple of photos from last week...

And Chris, re:sensor dust, get thee to Jacobs and grab a rocket and a Lenspen Sensor cleaning pen.

Re: Photos
I've got a self making swab kit mate (I figured as I had a clean room.. it was rude to buy the expensive ones
) It works really well, but it needs doing so much more often than I ever expected.
I'll look into the lenspen, cheers

Light source is single desklamp that is right outside of frame at right, so it is quite near. Also desklamp is right next to wall, which causes certain issues.
Focus point is indeed at the rim, right above lense, so that is why it is hard to spot, so rotating glasses a bit and focusing to hinge might been better solution.
edit: Have to post in parts as this laptop can throw blue screen at any time, had done already 3 times while trying to make this post....
Photo of bech and walkway looks very nice, but even everything looks right to me, I get somehow feeling that it is kind of cold, or lacking of some spark, hard to describe, specially when I can't get any ideas what could be done differently, but it is like picture would like to be something more. Don't know if you feel the same or if I am even making any sense?
Re: Photos
The photo was for a comp, the subject was "waiting". The frame is deliberately very sparse except for the girl on the bench. The empty space were there *should* be a secondary subject causes distraction as the main focus is effectively what the girl is waiting for (but there's nothing there), the intention was to make it a little uncomfortable. I've cropped it slightly wider than a normal aspect ratio, to make the empty space that little bit bigger and increase the tension.jtbo wrote: Photo of bech and walkway looks very nice, but even everything looks right to me, I get somehow feeling that it is kind of cold, or lacking of some spark, hard to describe, specially when I can't get any ideas what could be done differently, but it is like picture would like to be something more. It didn't win

Re: Photos
But I think it captures very well those points that you did describe, it indeed has athmosphere of waiting in it, when I look it now, but some reason that never occured to my mind before, it is challenging to capture such things so that it is obvious to everyone, I guess that makes shooting photos fun as people will see different things in a pic, specially when not directed to look anything specific.d3k4y0 wrote:The photo was for a comp, the subject was "waiting".
