Re: louvre
I seem to come on this site whenever one of those threads pops up lol.
They're only available second hand or NOS now mate. I was successful on eBay last year after around a year of looking on and off I found two suitable for my car (outbid on first).
What shape/year is your 300? I'm guessing it's a mk3 (last shape) and if so those are apparently the hardest shape to find a louvre for (saloon more so).
All you can do is keep an eye out, do some searching and you will turn one up. I've seen a few spoken of on here, and a couple adveritsed.
They are really cool aren't they
. For a piece of cheapo, brittle 80's plastic! Good luck.

Re: louvre
i see... its a 1987 340 dl... out of intrest,,, how much would you say im looking at spending when one does pop up?
Re: louvre
Mk3 then. Unlucky mate
I paid £80 for mine, and it had no fitting kit. I got a bit carried away with my bid on the other one (I only bid at the death) and £170 odd wasn't enough to get it!
So at a guess I'd say expect to pay about £100. Unless you find one yourself you will probably have to join a long queue on here. I know I was quite a few places from the front.
If I was you I would take a look on eBay.au.

Re: louvre
hmmm, in that case i think if i do manage to get one ill use it to have a mould made and get 20 or so nocked out ........
i reckon with a mould i could get them made for around £20 a peice,, profit margin sounds good to me:)

Re: louvre
Yeah, I considered that too. I like the rarity though. Even though the roads aren't exactly overrun with these cars.spike4073 wrote:hmmm, in that case i think if i do manage to get one ill use it to have a mould made and get 20 or so nocked out ........i reckon with a mould i could get them made for around £20 a peice,, profit margin sounds good to me:)

I'd also be concerned about using an original one to make a mould. imagine if that release agent doesn't work *SNAP!* It's not like a wing or something. It's mad how hard they are to acquire these days. I bet hundreds of them have been binned/scrapped on cars.
The main deciding factor here imo is people who have V300's are tight

I see what you're thinking though.

Re: louvre
good point...
i know what you mean about some bits getting very rare.
i spoke to a guy at a breakers yard who had a few 300s and when i asked about a snowcap he told me that he had one but just a week or 2 before i spoke to him he had let it go to someone for £5!!
from what he was telling me he had to haggle pretty hard to get him to part with a fiver for it, so i see what you mean by tight

Re: louvre

A lot of people do run these cars as they are cheap, which is fair enough but it means they expect to get everything for buttons.
I've never been fully sold on snow caps tbh, they look a bit too much like a non-functional (due to location and engine rotation) stick on scoop. They can be cool on the right car, but I'm not sure if they are £60+ cool.
A lot feel the same way about louvres though!

Anything made of plastic that sticks on a car is cool.L14MNP wrote:

Re: louvre
I'd have a saloon louvre, I wanted the one that was around a few months ago but was skint at the time. Along with a slammed car and duckbill front splitter, I think it'd look pretty rad on mine.

Re: louvre
Hi mate.
Good luck in finding a louvre. I got mine in Holland.
I was out bid by laim on the e bay one
. After that i
thought i would never see one again but i got lucky. You have to keep looking.
A replica run would be great.
I donn't think we are all tight, just bloody skint most of the time
Cheers Mark.
