On the national express... Satire content

Post by CBA » 12 Jul 2011 04:26 am

So, here we go to pick up another car - Via England's glorious public transport! i.e. will take 4 scary hours to go 97 shitting yourself constantly miles. I'll expect the worst so I may be pleasantly surprised.. last time I expected a nice comfy coach journey.. look at the scenery and things

- what I got was ray-charles's and colin mcrae's pissed-up lovechild as a driver, unfortunately he wasn't blind - instead he had colin's recklessness and ray charles's driving skill.

.. maybe I'll go on the train, not been many derailments lately :D

I could cycle it in 9~ hours... for free, but will probably get hit by the ray-mcrae national express I would have been on. Or get a puncture and end up beating up some cunt in halfords who can't fix my puncture, nor sell me a spanner under £10.

So its brown trousers, certain death or "falling down" in halfords.

I went via train from Durham > Peterborough and then Peterborough > Ipswich to collect my car and then the previous owner picked me up from the train station, we then drove the car back.

I managed to get two tickets at £70 each (expensive yeah!) but was booking only a couple of hours in advance and that was first class.

It wasn't a bad journey at all if I'm honest - so I would vote for train over national express/megabus any day. Just try and book with more time to spare than I did, you should get cheaper tickets for a shorter journey too.

Matt.

At least you will not freeze to death like here when this happens:

That pile of rubble used to be a bus:

Oh and as we have long dark winter, our spring is quite strong mating season, you might consider not to travel then either:

Hi mate.
I recently travelled from Belfast to Dublin by train for a Bon jovi gig. Comfortable seats, nice trip.
Approx 100 miles. On the way home the next day there was know seats on the train and we had to stand
most of the way. Bloody rotten trip. It might be cheaper to take the bus.
Cheers Mark. sm4

Got it!! :D
Bad bits
Few welds needed for next mot, due to lack of wax/t-cut it is quite white :? , one indicator is out, wipers are duff, needs bit of body job on one wing. needs oil change ASAP.

Good bits - it goes straight! first one I've had that goes straight by itself!!!
New dunlops all round, Interior is untouched, original MW/LW radio cassette, inside it's totally pristine and it smells good  -59,000 miles :?: seems to be true, the rust is "standing" rust, not "driving" rust (weird places etc)

cant take any pics, will figure something out tomoz.. Long day

went on national express, had to pay twice for being late due in turn to late metrolink to manchester..
Then.. the last leg of the journey was on a bus contracted by nat express - I had to wait till it was leaving because they don't have "reserved" seats.. driver said loads of people had been left standing coz of this - didn't tell me it was pot luck if I get a seat when I bought the ticket  - flippin runts. £45 total travel costs including petrol to get back, of which I still have full reserve, light not on yet WIN WIN!!

Thinking of getting a collapsible motorbike for next time tho'
