Weight, long wheelbase and decent torque are what helps with control, 240 is a lot more relaxed than 360 on ice, but D6 torque is non existent so it really can't keep sliding on even on ice
Where 360 excels is nimbleness (is that even a word?) with faster steering rack 360 would run circles around that boat with enough practise, things just happen very slowly with those big tanks, but when sliding they are still rather comfy, I had that full size estate with sofa and on ice that was silly easy to control even with slushbox shifting up and down.
If damn things would cost same to run as my french crap, surely I would chose such over any Volvo for work driving, but that 9l/100km of 98 octane as an average is just too much for me, 3.6l/100km of diesel (that is less expensive here) is enough to justify suffering.
That is probably 305 small block chevy now? 307 would be Oldsmobile motor and 308 is maybe Ford? I think Ford had always bit more cu than others? Just don't trust my memory, it is not so good.
5.7 would be 350 then.
edit: What I think would be great travel car would be pre gas crisis full size estate, 1965-1970 era, those had even 8 litre motors, producing more than enough of horsies to move boat around, 7 litre to 8 litre motors produced over 300 horsies some even close to 400 horsies without any modifications, I tell you, we did born too late, look even 300 series, those made before 1985 are best and everyone just drools after MkI...
