Dial Dimmer Switch

Post by Attack2001 » 05 Apr 2012 11:09 pm

The switch on the right handside of the steering wheel, at the bottom that dims all the dials down. Whats it there for? Why do we need to dim the dials? And can i connect my clock and extra gauges up to it so that if i ever decide to use this switch that i have no idea why its there, they all dim together? Thomas.....................

So that when you are in the super dark lanes, you don't loose your night eyes. Apart from the fact they warning lights dont dim, so you still get blinded by the really bright blue of the main beam light ;)

Wiring in an extra couple of bulbs shouldn't be a problem, just keep the wattages the same so they are all roughly equal. A fair number of the bulbs on the 300 dash are 24V ones to keep the dimness, worth bearing in mind. There is a list on here somewhere.

Ah ok i see :) I think the bulbs in extra gauges etc are 1.2v so that sounds like it would just blow the bulbs if i connected them to it?

1.2W maybe, I'd imagine 12V. If you have bulbs already, try it and see. If they are too bright, we can help you suss something out.
