wich i really shouldn't drive through the salt this winter i bought another one!! the 343 is starting to get light rust just about everywhere, and as you all know driving a '80 343 through the salt is just asking for a flinstone-vehicle... soo... the decision was made to find a winter storage for it and get something else back instead. the 343 will get a full body restauration, starting possibly in 2012 but 2013 is ok for me aswell

enough of the 343, the new daily; bought quite cheap with to me quite a list of defects... got it here this friday, allways stayed in the family of previous owners and has 150.000km experience. it has a bit of cosmetic rust, nothing serious.

it has some bodywork damage to the rh side from a bicycle accident earlier in its life, damaged wing and front door

engine

dealer maintenance, you can tell (3 different fitments on the airfilterhousing hahaha)

and this is how it ran when i first got it:

so, yesterday afternoon i started with stripping it down

finding various defects, and sorted everything out straight away

even wrong gaskets, these should have 2 round holes

as with oval holes, there's a new channel for every gasket thickness that disrupts the mixture

rebuild the carb with all new gaskets, and setted everything factory spec. upgraded the airfiltermounts to M6

coming back together..

so after a few hours i had done
- adjusted valve clearance
- changed various gaskets (valvecover, manifold, carb etc)
- sorted out vacuum hoses
- checked/rebuild carb
- checked/replaced ignition parts
- checked the whole CVT control EMV and Tachometric relay units
- replaced declutch servo due to vacuum leak
- mounted a radio
and a lot of little other bits n bobs
and after a little bit of mixture setting this is how it runs for now

bit better but not perfect yet... soon i'll replace the downpipe gasket and set the mixture again till it runs ultrasmooth; as it should.
today i tackled the rest of the CVT, adjusted the clutch (and that was nessasary!!)
from 2,6mm shimmed to 0,5mm shimmed and now an airgap of 0,3mm. i wish the dealer would've checked this too as the clutch wouldn't be allmost dead by now.

the dealer obviously knew something about CVT's as the secundary airgap has been regulary checked and adjusted

belts and gearbox look fine for quite some miles more to come, just sweating a little bit of oil that's all

i've also lubricated all hinges, locks, window mechanisms etc...
all i still have to do is replace all fluids, check the brakes and lube them where nescasary and it's ready to go...
