360/340 Saloon - Anyone who owns/has owned one

Debating a 360/340 Saloon as my next car, i miss my 340.

idealy im after a 360 Injection saloon.
How are they power wise?
What are they like MPG Wise?
How do they drive compared to the 340?

I remember my 1.7 340 being ok on fuel but slow as shit.

Power wise - slow, marginally quicker than a 1.7 but not by much
Fuel economy - poor, expect 25mpg, 36mpg max when taking it very easy
Boot is quite shallow and rear seats don't fold if that's a concern
Slightly more refined and in theory a stiffer shell

The 2.0 also spins up a lot slower than a 1.7 and feels more lazy/heavy, and LE-Jet fuel injection isn't all that great, but it is atleast reliable!

Cheers for the input, i found my 1.7 far too slow, my 1.3 Civic outpaced it!

May consider a Clio engined 340 Instead then.

Doesn't surprise me, but the Civic can't be *that* much faster. Both I assume must weigh around 1100kg and produce 70-90bhp? If it is significantly quicker than I wonder if the carb was working right on your old 1.7

love 360s hate 1.7s. Earlier 2l are very torquey (up to 86 for injection, 87 for carb), they can take abuse and will not let you down. Only downside is the mpg.

I also like the saloons as they are different and stiffer, but yes not as practical as a hatch. The boot makes a great sound box, 6x9s in the back shelf.

Boot space etc doesnt bother me, want a saloon for the looks

May just end up going back to Ford instead if i cant find a good Volvo when i get the money!

Dan, I have a D reg 360 GLEi SE saloon, obviously it's a 2.0 injection. Immaculate shell, always been garaged. Only 38k miles. Leather interior and aircon (but that needs attention). I might be tempted in to selling at the right price, so PM me when you're ready to buy. (Yes, it's the car in my avatar.)

Thats speeds old one, it has running issues, it pre detonates.

Ive been in it as a passenger when speedy owned it, it badass. Id have it if i could afford to and had the time to sort the pinking.
