if you've never done it before but do know how to work with tools etc around 5 hours average.
make sure you use a proper tool for the hex bolts that the rear engine mounts are mounted with!!! and clean the holes before you try to undo them, they round off real quick if you're not careful

Sorry should of said i've been a mechanic for 13 years done loads of clutch's gearboxs engine changes and rebuilds but not on a 340 looking for advice to make things quicker and how to remove the prob ?????
Book time's are a bit odd as its 2.20 hours for flywheel but only 1.60 hours for rear main oil seal which it behind the oil seal, I have an hour and half to get it done. place ya bets lol

no 1,5 hours is too short if you're alone; even with all the (air)tools, lift etc there..
propshaft is simply undoing the 2 clamp bolts and slide it off

If you know your way around spanners, it's doable. I'm assuming it's a 1700?
The Volvo technical manuals are under the technical section here, they are the dealer books and are pretty good. From memory they tell you how to do it from under the car, but as I've got no lift I always pop the engine out to do it, can have the engine out in 60mins but you won't get it in changed and out in 90mins.
I reckon on a lift you'll be ok though, if you've done rwd normal gearboxed cars then there is nothing different apart from getting the prop off. It's not difficult, clamp bolts undone, rubber mallet it towards the gearbox, it'll drop off the bellhousing then tap forwards. DO CLEAN AND GREASE THE PROP CLAMP BOLTS when you do them back up, to the correct torque. That's the second most likely thing to break your prop after shagged engine and box mounts (yes, I have).

Yes I'm doing it on a ramp, but it's a 1.4 so loads of room round the bell housing, so I undo a clamp ( I haven't noticed this before only been under the car once 6 months ago) then side it forward off the gear box splines then I can get it off the bell housing?

Undo 2 clamps. One at either end of prop.

Take a good look at the clamping bolts as well.
They tend to stretch over the years.
Change them if necessary, should be able to get them from Mac or Macplaxton in the correct strength.

Thanks for all the advice, gave me a good heads up, very simple when you get under there, took about hour and 45 mins, the only problem was the seal i got was wrong but I think the oil was coming from the back of the sump gasket, so drained the oil cleaned it down and tried to re-seal it, so fingers crossed. its time for some more power soon any way
