I went drifting (video)

Post by Speedy88 » 12 Sep 2012 10:00 pm

So me and a few friends from RetroRides chipped in and bought a £350 car for a drifting event - kinda to prove to ourselves that a weekend's motorsport is possible for not alot of money.

I drove the car up to Buxton - a Volvo 740 Turbo (180bhp) which was fairly tidy if I'm honest!

Here's a video that I shot with Jonovlov's GoPro (cheers mate):

Unfortunately it threw a rod on the second day. Yes, a B230FT threw a rod. I decided that as the car was in my name we'd drive it to the scrapyard and I'd salvage pretty much everything I could get off (I'm now the proud owner of a full leather interior and set of wheels :D ). Then, 10 miles later a hole emerged...

Bye Volvo, you were awesome. I would have kept it if the engine hadn't have gone

Since it's a 740, it definitely wasn't an ET?

Just that it's a changeover year, which is why I wondered. If it's an FT it'll only have had 163bhp. Although that's pretty irrelevant with a hole in the block now

So you're right! Unless the wiki page is wrong. So am I right in thinking the early 740s had the ET with 180?

Yeah, we were up in the stands feeling sorry for ourselves  I've got about 30 mins of footage but it's only more of what you see in the vid.

looks like a top weekend! i normally spend that much going places like Bournemouth and Cardiff for party/ drinking weekends! I think this is much better spent..you could very quickly end up with a load of 7 and 240s outside your house tho lol
