It has been snowing quite a lot. Now it's settled a bit and temperatures are dropping, Around -15C today but forecast says -20C or even -30C and below for the next week.
It's quite a "snow rally" at the capital city Helsinki again. If it snows 10cm at the city they have to run 15 000 truck loads of snow out of the city to the snow dump sites. There's just no room in the city for the snow to be ploughed anywhere. With the current capacity it takes about 8 days to clear that 15 000 truckloads if it doesn't snow more during that time. Usually it does so trucks and tractors have been running the "snow rally" 24/7.
According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the snow depth at Helsinki area seems to be around bit over 50cm currently.
The snow piles elsewhere, where there is room to plough, are also starting to get quite big.. Took this pic while refilling the S90 today, normally you can see the road behind the gas station.
