Pretty sure it is weeping from the edges, will check again.
The idea was to find a reasonable spare to refurbish/rustproof ready to fit. I will have limited time to do the job due to using a friend's facilities, so having a freshly refurbed cover to hand will make for a better job.
The 'used' spare that turned up is rotten, the gasket surfaces are beyond redemption.....

I would reckon there would be a good market over here if you start saving good diff covers and are willing to post...!
Guess it depends on the shipping costs though....

That is a poor replacement, can't believe someone bothered to sell it!
Better used examples will certainly be out there, along with a repaint, gasket kit from Mac/Born Built Beauties and possibly some blue hylomar for belt and braces, you'll be good!

Thanks Steve, that was the plan...
Will keep looking. Now had a satisfactory response and refund so all is good from that perspective, just unfortunate it wasn't a decent spare to begin with.
Also been in touch with Mac, very helpful chap and kindly sent me the instruction sheet and some other information.
Cheers Dave

Ah yes, if you own a 300 it's never long until you speak to the infamous Mac, his gasket set is top quality. I've had a few due to the number of 300's I've bought in the past
