Well done ,
you caught me out for using the ebay pictures,
The guy wouldn't even tell me the number plate when I agreed the price and got him to take it off ebay but sure enough F34 SAD has got a certificate saying the plates worth £400.00 after all transfer fees have been dealt with i.e. thats what I get in my pocket.
It stayed in the same family from march 1989 (it was a demo before that so was registered 16/01/89 )until july of this year.
The engine was rebuilt by volvo at 30,000 because of piston slap in no2 cylinder and it has just reached 102,000 miles .
I bought it (this is my second 340 in four years ) because I have to take my foster son to and from Coventry a round trip of 125 miles twice a week and thought I was a bit naughty putting that sort of mileage on my sons Nova.
The plate means that if it blows up tomorrow I have lost nothing but I must admit the old girls growing on me.
I have all the bills including original bill of sale and a full service history up to 93,300.
ll in all I must say I am very pleased, I am not sure whether to keep or sell the plate 340's do have a bit of a stigma in some circles and a SAD numberplate dosn't help lol.

what was your first 340?

i'm a bit dubious about number plate valuations - i agree it'd cost £400 to get that numberplate, but trying to find someone willing to pay £400 for it would probably be a completely different matter.. hows the car for rust?

My first 340 was a 1987 1.4 three door in blue , I think it was a GL ,
I bought it three years ago for the wife with a years mot for £150.00 ,I only had it a month ,my mate valeted it for me and I sold it for £500.00 without telling her oops!! .
Still I did buy her a 2.5 960 estate to replace it lovely car until the auto gearbox starts playing up.
the redline only has a very small patch of surface rust where the door meets the window rubber on the nearside rear door and a small rust hole on the front corner of the crossmember above the grille

It might well be worth getting that rust treated before it gets more of a grip - a rust free 300 is a rare thing to be nurtured!

cheers

Okay..here's my trackday 360...there's a lot that I've done to it, and a heck of a lot more coming. So far it's equipped with suzuki swift GS seats,
stripped of it's interior, fitted a K&N filter, lowered the front 2-3cm and
painted some ghey racing stripes on it. I'm not a lover of the 360 looks or
it's stock performance, but stripped and with upgraded suspension it makes for a fun car to play with.
Hope you have a resize function...otherwise you mods can make links of
these pics...

How I bought it:

Cleaned up & with some nicer rims 2 weeks later:

Lowered the front and painted some go-fast stripes:

Check out the seats...we needed these for safer 4 point seatbelt install.:

Sorry for the pic overload..

Future plans (for when it comes out of hibernation):
-Further weight reduction..lexan windows, gutted doors & whatever else I think of.
-New red Koni adjustables are waiting for it,...going to try and buy some of the custom racing springs from the dutch v360 cup
-Lowering the back to suit the new front ride height .
-ATS cup wheels with Advan A032R super soft semislicks.
-big brake upgrade or better pads (mintex/ferodo ds2500)
- Currently trying to get my hands on a B200ET engine from a 740...

Well heres my 360GLT, previously Carls.. looks quite good here, even though it actually needs a wash!

Note the lovely sunken sunroof, I'll be getting my dad to look at this at some point seeing as he used to fit them. Old (newer than the 360!)Favorit in the background!

that skoda actually looks pretty similar to a 360 at a glance, but its boot is too short

Yeah I guess there are some similarities! Probably designed at similar times. The dashboard is also a very similar shape, not of the same quality I must admit, but they're still suprisingly good cars - well I like 'em anyway! They seem to like being driven hard, they're certainly better than most people expect!

Here's another of my old girl, finally after she's been put on the road..

Image

Notice the small strip at the bottom of the plate...cheeky bugger at the garage that MOT'd it stuck it on! Talk about cheap advertising!

You'd be surprised..there is a thin layer of dirt all around the car and not long after I took this, I washed her inside and out. Looks gorgeous. (Well, looks gorgeous anyway, but uber gorgeous now. :) )
