New 340 needs help please

Post by Clare » 01 Apr 2007 07:01 pm

Hi
I am a new 340 owner - yeah its all mine - but I am after some help but not always sure of the correct teams for all the parts. Yes I am a female volvo driver - this could get scary, especially for the other half.

I am after some parts for my car which has the grey interior;

1) 4 black surrounds for the interior door release,
2) Steering column stalk switches,
3) Boot pockets
4) Front speakers and mounting pods (including grills)
5) Trim panel for behind the passenger door - in dark grey

Any help gratefully welcome

Clare

Hi Clare, welcome to V3M :)

It's always a good idea to keep an eye on ebay, as many parts often pop up. Do a search for Volvo (300*, 340*, 345*, 360*, 3 series) and you should find most 300 related parts. Here's a link http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search. ... 29+-Haynes

EDIT:Hmm, for some reason it doesn't want to link that properly, so you'll have to copy and paste it...

I don't see any of those parts listed directly, but there are a couple of cars being broken, so drop them an e-mail and see if they have any stuff you want :)

Good luck

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion of ebay - I am looking on a regular basis, and found a replacement rear light here, but still checking. I have sent a message to the person who is currently breaking a volvo 340, awaiting for a reply!!!!!!!!!

I did find another website - http://www.247spares.co.uk/volvo-340

Has anyone used this site!!

Feedback welcome

Clare

Never heard of them, maybe others have.

German Swedish & French Parts are quite popular (http://www.gsfcarparts.com/)

Scrap yard would probably be your best bet for stuff like that if you can find a decent one which doesn't crush everything over 10 years old.

Boot pockets are rare and quite sought after

Welcome Clare! I'm sure you'll find V3M to he a helpful and friendly place :)

I have a pair of door speakers going spare. How does £10 posted sound? Alternatively, I can deliver if you live anywhere between Lincoln and South Devon (in a more-or-less straight line!)

Are you sure the stalks themselves are the problem? The bracket they mount to is notorious for failing, so if you've got loose stalks, it's more than likely that the stalks are either coming unscrewed, or the bracket they mount to has snapped.

cheers

Cheers Mick! I keep meaning to make some more one day........ if I ever get time. Not sure if I preferred my original locking version or the ones using original Volvo latches!

Hi James,

Thank that sounds great (speaker wise) do you take paypal??

The problem with the indicators stalk is the part that connects them is damaged on one side - although it still works.

Thank
Clare

Hi Clare,

I certainly do - to the address on the 'email' button at the bottom of each post. Ta!

Regarding the stalk...do you mean the part of the stalk which joins to the bracket is broken (i.e. the bolt-hole), or the bracket it mounts to on the car is broken? If it's the latter, it's the common fault. If it's the former...well I'm sure it can happen! :)

cheers

Hi Clare,

Yeah, when things slow down a bit and I finally find some time I'll make a few sets up. I'm still a bit undecided about some of the finishing touches, but I'll think about that in the mean time.

I still like my design for the fitment over the original ones. The originals are clipped on and are hinged, which means with the tight fitting boot carpet in place, they are difficult to open fully out of the way, without either damaging the clips or breaking the bottom plastic area. I need to check that I've interpretted how they fit properly, as I've still not actually fitted them! Either way, mine were removable and fitted onto some inserts into already available holes in the car, so no drilling or damage!

When I get around to it, I'll let you know and see if you're still interested in them then!
