Hi mate
Patience is a virtue. You will find the parts in time.
It looks like it will be a quick beast when ready.
I wouldn't chuck any of the old engine away as the is lots
of usefull parts on it.
Cheers Mark. sm4

Don't use stock engine mounts. You'll bust props ;)

I might be able to sort you an alternator bracket, I'll look tonight.

Ha ha, bust props :(

On a happy note, I've got Dai's polybush front mounts, and they are great. I'd recommend them. Don't know where he is atm though.

Dai's front mounts are 3mm shorter than a stock mount. If your rear mounts are good, this will be causing misalignment too. I've spoken to him about it but not sure what his plan is atm.

Faaantastic. All I needed to hear on a day like I'm having right now. :(

Trying to remain positive, the prop actually bust because of the splines, not engine alignment. This seems to be fine. Surely the rubber ones would compress more, so when the weight is put on them, they'd be around the same size?

When I've got some better pictures of my new mounts, I'll do a full write up on what I found, but with correct height and deflection in my new rear mounts, I have to jack the engine up 3mm for Dai's fronts to be correct. Dai's mounts don't include the 3mm hex on the mount as per stock ones, which is where we both think the height difference comes from.

I'm just running a 3mm shim under my front's now. I'm starting to wonder if more valvers will be requiring the laser aligner I made

Farynuff. I could do the same for now, just shim it up 3mm. I reckon you should start producing the laser pointer, you'd make a mint! Well, at least a few bob. It'd be dam useful!

Just a quick question,

I am still collecting parts and i need the bolts for the 1700 bellhousing and they are proving hard to get hold of, surely i can match these for some other bolts providing i have the correct measurements?

Just a word of warning here for anyone looking to use 'lakes autos' volvo spares center/breakers.

I ordered a set of FRONT ENGINE mounts from them and at first they seemed ever so helpful and the parts arrived as promised however.... i opend the box to find two gearbox mounts.
I rang up to get it sorted and was told that i didnt ask for the front engine mounts but the rear?!
They agreed to send me out the engine mounts which i originally asked for.
I receieved the engine mounts a few days later at least i thought i did i had one mount inc bushe and one bush!? No good! so i rang up to say i required the sump anyway so if i pay for that today the mount should be attached and everyones happy and i was told to literally 'Stop fucking them about' and that 'and i wasnt being specific wnough with what i was asking for' then they hung up and wouldnt answer the phone.

Just thought i better let people know.

Sadly sounds about right for most UK companys, i'm suprised they manage to stay in business :x .

Hope you get it sorted and find all the parts you need.

Hum, they've seemed friendly when I've gone down there. Kinda scrapyard that lets you borrow their tools and wander about.

Then again I've also heard a story about a guy who tried to haggle a price down and ended up with said part chucked in the river at the end of the yard.

They were also adamant that there were 2 types of manual 340 propshaft. When I asked if they meant the shorter CVT one they said "no, there's 2 types of manual one with different number of splines". Errr...
