I'm stuck in the 80's anyway so no need to go back in time

If he could get it to run on rubbish though like in the later B2TF that would be epic lol

Yes 13x10, don't think i'll be keeping them on, just fitted them up to see if they would fit. :D

Re: At last my car! (Pic heavy)(Now With engine build shots)

Post by 340GLT » 07 Apr 2009 01:42 pm

Well i have been building an engine up for Paul. He delivered the engine to me some time last month for me to check over and rebuild, unfortunately when i started stripping it; disaster had struck, 16 bent valves and 4 very damaged pistons so i sourced new pistons to replace the damaged ones and bought new valves anyway will let the pictures do the talking, engine is an F7R 700, so a genuine williams lump, although now fitted with the larger megane 33mm inlet valves.

Looking Good ummm..... Shiney!!
Take it the Cambelt had snapped?
Much work involved with fitting the bigger megane valves?

Adam, Does that mean you now have room for a F7P with a spun big end?

Within the next couple of weeks i will sort that from you mate.
No its fairly easy to refit the bigger valves, Swansea autos recut the seats for me so...

I'm wearing a big silly grin

Cheers Adam for putting up the pics.

Obviously i've been getting regular updates as to the progress, but bar a few phone pics these are the first time i've seen large size pics aswell as you guys on here.

Looked a right mess before, those pistons looked like they had a hefty bit of punishment, but the shiney newness looks much better, can't wait to get it in and have fun with it, after the running in obviously

Roll on next week :D

Knew this would make a good project car, cant belive you took of my gold stripes lol!!!liking the 480 seats..they are rare though, hope you got the rear ones as well?? Was so tempted to keep the number plate..think you need a GLT lip spoiler to tidy up the only bad part of your car...good work dude..

Did this belong to you at one time then? I didn't know that if that was the case.

Yeah it's pretty tidy, still got the rusty hole behind the number plate to attend to, and as you say the front valance does look crapy, need to do something with that aswell, may try and get hold of some of the gray paint to hide it a bit more short term.
Also got hold of a splitter type thing of another scrapped car which lines up nicely so that will be making it's way on at some point too. :D

No sadly i didn't take the rear seats was very tempted they were mint, should i have done so, i can always go back to get them if it's not been cubed yet.

Yeh only had it a short while though literally put those gold stripes on it then sold it to a guy in nottingham..not sure if that was the guy who had it before you..

YEh defo get the backs the whole set would sell more than just the two espec if you find a full leather set of a 480 seats from a celebration (again they are rare 2)

The guy i bought it from bought it off of EBay, but it wasn't in Nottingham when i picked it up.

I'll head on down the scrapyard at the weekend then as they are leather and as said before mint, toyed with the idea of getting them for the 340 as it would look quality, but i fear too much hassle.
