valman wrote:also the golf my wheel hit has come back with the cheapest repair quote being 750 quid. there is no way in a million yeas could a tire travelling 15mph can break the headlight, break the impact bar behind bumper and break the grill and put the wing out of alignment. when i was there the only damage was a bit of side trim got knocked off - the headlight wasnt hanging on by the wires. neither was the grill broken - is there anything i can do?
Did you take any photos? If you don't have proof and havn't informed insurance of an incident then not really

If you had to choose between the word of someone who got hit vs the guy who didn't tighten his wheel nuts I'd imagine you'd side that way.
Shame that someone has to pull a fast one though... but two lessons to learn

Sounds like a bodyshop bumping up the damage for more profit to me, don't know how they check that the car was A1 before the the incident. A wheel is quite heavy though even at only 15mph.

cheers for the replies:
i've looked at the 3 repair quotes he sent me and each one wants to replace different parts. he told me on the phone the headlight is broken yet one of the quotes doesnt even mention a headlight or the mounts (which he said were broken) so its a letter to him with a modest offer, otherwise it can go through insurance and theyll sort it out.
i also won some 13 x 10 (OMFG 10J RIMZZZ) wellers on ebay so will be getting them redrilled and powdercoated soon - any colour suggestions?
cheers

Did you take any photos of the damage?
First thing i'd do after seeing no one is hurt or anything - take some photos, just incase people try and claim for loads of damage.
Hope you get it sorted for cheaper mate
