The 164 has improved a little...but fundamentally yes :P There has been significant progress on the 343 though ;) Slowly slowly catchy monkey!

But what about the 360 ("turbo engine in by the summer" - J Bottrill, April 2004)?

What about the blue 345 ("will be MOT'd shortly" - J Bottrill, June 2010)?

What about the silver 345 ("That's going to be my standard 300 and used for shows" - J Bottrill, Spring 2008)?

What about the Mk2 GLT ("I'm going to restore that and sell it" - J Bottrill, Summer 2007)?

By "significant progress" does this mean the 343 has window trim/heater cable/speedo cable/choke cable/non leaking exhaust/new suspension?

I had joked I'd buy the 360GLT from you for my son as his first car, but given he's 15 in 2 months I'm not sure it'll be done by then.......... :P

Do we have an official "longest running project" on the board?

Chris's Turbo,
Foggys everything,
JTBOs 360,

Im guessing Foggy might take the crown?

Foggy surely wins by number of long projects, my "going to be running next summer" project has been project long, but not horribly long, I had it on road at 2007 spring last time, so that is 2008-2012, but it will be running at next summer, ahem, maybe I should at least ad maybe to that?

Might be that 343 will be the one that I take on road however, depending if I can figure out how to make vario system to work, but I don't know if that is possible with my low skills.

But certainly Steve is one that is going to have 360 to enjoy for summer, congrats from saving one!

VND has no 340 or 360 now? I remember saying something about selling one  Hopefully you can get back to club soon too, too long in comfy modern crap really make one lazy...

So it got a well deserved clean today... it is most definitely silver

So the only real thing that lets the car down at the moment is the condition of the engine bay which is really grubby with dust/dried on grime. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning this as doing it all by hand would take an age with all the nooks and crannies

The old man used them to clean industrial grass cutters and they cut through anything without damaging paint or titsing up electrics.

Looks bluish grey to me

Brake cleaner is nice, just accompany that with pressure washer, first spray brake cleaner and immediately follow up with pressure washer, if possible have pineline (cleaning chemical made from pine) mix in pressure washer too, then rinse with preferrably hot water to make it clean and nice. Still there will be need to clean with rag and brake cleaner after that, but a lot less. Remember to wax after that as it is certain that there is no wax in there, not after that treatment at least and even someone will laugh for waxing engine bay it is really helpful as then quick rinse will clean it for years, because in engine bay wax stays on much longer than on body.

Only problem is that if you do that on your drive or such, it will leave a stain on ground, for years...

Hi Steve.
I just use a tin of Degreaser and a power hose. Cheap and handy.
Is the colour Smoke Silver? It looks a lot like my old GLT which was smoke silver
Cheers Mark.

Just a quick update on the GLT.. had a great weekend at the VOC National and to my surprise won first in class for the 300 series. I knew the car was clean but I do really think there was some serious competition this year! Good to see such a good turnout of 300's, some of which I'd never seen before too! :) I added a set of 15x6.5" alloy's which I think suit it really well.

Haven't had much time to do much to the car as we've just bought a house - but it's had a trip up to the Peak District and nothing's gone wrong (apart from the fan resistor pack!). There are a couple of niggles that I hope to get fixed soon... a slightly blowing exhaust, a slightly corroded headlamp reflector and the engine bay still needs a good clean. The aftermarket alarm is sometimes a bit of a nuisance too but loathe to remove it as it's quite nice to have remote central locking.
IMG_0949.JPG
It also now has a nicer place to rest... pretty glad of it too as the council garage I've been renting is getting a bit rough and was getting a bit damp in very heavy rain through the door.

It doesn't quite look like it but there is just enough room for two 300's, pretty easily with the cupboards removed on one side. You see where I'm going with this one...
