If you want speed and 960/S/V90 looks. Why not get a 940 with B230FT and change all the front end bits from 960/S/V90 to the 940. And if can be bothered there is also other things to change. But you still get the look of 960 and it will be fast if you tune it abit. Sorted Sir.

All I wanted was a quick car to get me around in over the winter. No chipping, no bolting on bigger turbos, no engine changes etc etc. the T5 gives me a practical car with 225bhp and 221lbft out of the box to waft around in. Job done.

Any tuning going on in my garage will be focused on the v8!

...and when the top-spec stock NA 5-pot is faster than anything offered by Volvo in RWD (apart from Italian market 2.0 16v Turbos, but let's not get fussy!), never mind the T5...you can see why people like the FWD stuff. To be honest, they even handle ok (and better than the powerful RWD stuff)....in a boring sort of way!

Of course if you start modifying.....game over for FWD...but stock...it's a no brainer. I'm not about to convert wholly to FWD...but I can see the appeal for people who don't want to modify.

cheers

rwd virgins, this is soooooo wrong and thats how it is these days.

still a T5 is a controlversial car because it is fast with a 5pot which is great but its front drive.

for a great car to trip around in its got to be up there with the best!
plenty of goodness.

i still fancy one....one day. if it was £400 i would have it very very now!!!

Well having both a 940GL and a V70 T5SE all I can say is the speed is hmm 'lovely' in the T5 but the turning and parking circle is absolutely awful (FWD for you!).

As an everyday drivers car I would default to my 940 (or in the past the 360GLT), lovely drive, great turning circle, feel great.

For me the T5 is a fun car for decent motorway driving. :D
