Absolutely, with a few finishing touches by hand. Are you going where I think you're going...? If so, I like it! :D

It's only a thought tbh, my lathe isn't set up atm and in the general scale of a Chris project it could take a while but it's certainly not outside of scope. When I finally do get it setup I imagine I'll be trying to make as much swarf as possible 8)

Good stuff, missing driving the thing tbh. I'll re-insure it and get it taxed at the beginning of April when I turn 25... talking of storage I sent you some payment last night.

What is this place coming to when you're bench-latheing!!! ;)

Personally, I'm fairly confident the 200 series Virgo caps are the same... so that'll be the route I'll be going at the moment.

They're different. For serious. They might fit and look ok...but they're not the same.

I know that, but fitting and looking good will be good enough for me  I shoud've said "will fit" instead of the same

SteveP wrote:Well I've picked up a set of Leo's yesterday from Winston... pics to follow. They need a refurb which I'll probably DIY as given some time you can get good enough results, and as the car doesn't have to put up with winter salt they'll be fine. Only have three centre caps and these are in poor condition - does anyone know which others fit? I have a feeling that 240 GLT 'Virgo' centre caps will be the same size, although instead of the large 'V' they have Volvo with the two half circles above and below. Wonder if you can buy them new?
I tried to do some research on which Leo caps fit which 70's Volvo wheel here:
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... 1&p=112444
... and didn't get very far ;-) As far as I can tell, a Leo wheel is still the "commonest" wheel around with that kind of centre cap, so it's not much help looking at other wheels ...

I'd be interested to see what the end result of the "nearly" right caps is ;-) As long as the end result is close enough, that'd be fine for me too!

I've since found out the 200 series ones are a different diameter... even though they look the same :( Looks as though it might be a tricky hunt if they're 300 specific

I had to move it yesterday to get my 343 out (swapped places...yours isn't outside Steve!). Not sure how many weeks ago it was last run, but it started almost straight away. The carb is vapour-tight, then! :)
