Having a cat

Post by jtbo » 24 Feb 2011 03:16 pm

One of my wild cats did enter indoors yesterday while I was closing a door, did not want to leave by new cat door, or more likely did not understood purpose of such door, so it did took underside of bed to herself for now.

Around 7 months old girl, one with less hair from photo thread pics.

It already did tolerate touching and generally was almost like tame, so I hope that when initial shock goes away, she would adjust to new life without big issues. She already knows how to use litter box, but eating has been now more of issue, she is hiding so well under the bed that she is not eating at the moment, not even if I put her favorite under the bed.

Will not be easiest path probably as it is wild creature, not tame house cat, even that it has some tolerance towards me, don't know how many years it will take to get it fully tame, it is not rare for it to take 3 years.

Probably, it's tummy growls already and it has been over 24 hours since it ate last time, but I stuffed some food almost next to it, maybe it will eat that before it is starving to death :?

After giving food I closed door to room and let it sit in there until tomorrow, probably needs just time and privacy for now.

edit: Poor thing, had digged into blanket so that large eyes and ears were only thing visible, but had licked bit of food, very very little, but still a little bit, proper wet kitten food, it did say there were rabbit in it, that cat loves rabbit, chicken and fish. Slowly it will now establish own territory and maybe then slowly start to eat from hand again, took 6 months to teach it before, now after caught I hope it will take bit less amount of time, however we have plenty of time, cats live 15-20 years at indoors.

Well, she comes out under the bed now and then when I'm not around, but she eats only during night and she eats very little, but still sometimes she plays a bit, haven't actually seen her in days. However I'm pretty sure there is a cat as litter box gets used and I got flea bitten too

So I have now 5+ cats, all brothers and sisters of that brown cat did happen to come to my warehouse and I have not probably found all of them yet, so I need to do some more trapping.

So as an average there are cat for every 8 square meter of space, but probably more, luckily most of new ones are temporarily here, however I might end up with 4 cats, also there is downstairs and staircase too, if I allow them to roam there it will make a lot more space, upstairs is tad small in my house.

It is not my fault, honestly, they just somehow end up to my warehouse and then I have to of course help them as I would do for anyone in need :D

Slow cat, one of mine would defineatly just put claws deep into tissue and enjoy from the ride, that one is quite lazy actually, but loves everything extreme, quite individuals all of them.

I found out that there are actually seven cats now, there was one more at warehouse...

Not so likely, these four new ones are of same mother cat which is my neighbourg's, but neighbour tried to kill the cat and failed in it, so cat brought kittens here instead, neighbour got one of the kittens but was going to kill them all, but I told him that I can foster them until I find new homes for them.

That means they will not stay with me forever, I might keep one of them if I can't find homes for them all.

My three are not the most human friendly cats, they are tamed wild beasts, one tame cat would be nice too and I really like from black one
