I'd prefer to have the re-instatement of the rolling 25 year rule, not 30 years.

I believe this was an election promise of the Tories at the previous General Election.
Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

yeah it was a tory promise sm75

There cant be a time restriction put in place, "sunny sundays" just makes it sound like less of a loss of revenue to the govt.

Yawn.

UK road tax @ £130 / £215 is peanuts. Ask any of your European cousins what they pay for the same thing...

There's two hopes and Bob went years ago.

Its not so much that we should have every diserving thing cheaper and every undiserving thing more expensive, from my point of view gov't needs to be more efficient and having more complex rules and tax collection is not the way to do it. Business tax is already a nightmare that non-specialist HMRC people can't even advise on.

What this is saying is the road use should be taxed according to use (eg milage for example, but weight could be included) rather than 1 size fits all or put into groups. There are already too many groups and there is a huge cost in industry to get their cars tested for these new CO2 figures and get it registered etc.
Taking this idea to is logical conclusion a more sensible thing would be to do away with road tax and increase petrol tax by like ..nothing, probably work out <1p/litre and they would save all the collection/processing cost. however it is also a registration process with check for MOT etc, but there are much better IT based ways of doing that.

And brings me onto another thing... If gov't wants things to be more efficient, there are people whose job that is ...thy are called Engineers, but Ministers and politicians think they can do it themselves. grrr.
