Mrs VND models a Stormtroopin 'Loon.
The best bit (for me)
850 Manual, with 170k ish.
2.0 non turbo is made of slow.
Lupagur adds thrift win.
Tints in the back as the old lad I got it from was pretty gangsta. Or liked dogging.
Stormtrooper stickers on order.

Cheers man. You know you need LPG in your life.
Cheers man. I'll get some better pics in the light.
But it doesnt look half bad for £500 does it?

Lpg is an option I am exploring
My friend's Subaru's are on LPG - one being over 300bhp and twin turbo'd and lpg works well.
£500 is a bargain!

As daft as it sounds I love the auto. I love sneaking up on stuff in it. It's so quick for a 16 year old car. It mite be for sale next year if your interested.

I bet you it is! But Sorry man. Being of limited funds, I doubt it. Unless its going for less than 500 dollar with LPG attatched!

Cheers man. Looks better in real life. Trying not to spend next months rent on a Bonnet Bra and wind deflectors.....................

I remember reading that there was some issue with service program of some non turbo 850, air filter was ordered to change only after much more than 50 000 miles, at least that is how my memory tells me, so many of them have bit of issue with worn out motor as filter on some started to let dirty air past it and wearing engine bit too quickly.
Anyway it might only be for our market that had that problem.
From what I remember from such car was that it does not turn (well it does if you compare other wrong end pullers), steering wheel was not connected to anything or at least it felt so and to get it going one needed to use upper part of rev range only.
Can't remember if that one had program limited throttle butterfly which would open fully with chip tune, but it might be some other model.
Good transportation surely and relative good in crash situations too, it is not really horrible even it has quite many of things that are not compatible with me, but my french crap has even more of those

JT is right about the steering. Its a bit mystical. Its connected to the wheels, but doesnt feel like it.
Other than that, its awesome.
Now with added retro wind deflectators, coz I love em.
Moar boring pics:
Plans?
Dunno really. Drive it till it breaks.
Needs a drivers door check strap.
Gonna attack the grey bits of exterior trim with linseed oil if we get a good day.
Winter wheels mebeez.
Anyone got any ideas or inspiration?
Other than slamming it?

Cracking! I'm guessing it's a 10v ("DOHC" on spark plug cover)?
Regarding the check strap...inspect carefully...see if it's the check strap (£25 or so from the dealer) or the welds for the mount on the body having broken. Both are prone to failing, and if it's the mount welds, it wants fixing ASAP. The mount needs re-welding. I've taken to bracing them...I can send pics if that would be useful.
As for the steering...I'm bemused. It's one of the better features of them...much more direct and "pointy" then a 300 (and MILES better than a 2/7/900). Sure it's not broken? My theory is that the wishbones have stiffer bushes than a 2/3/7/900, because they're not the only means of isolation. They're bolted to the subframe, which is itself isolated from the body. In other words, the wishbone bushes are very rigid (so all the steering gear stays in alignment), and the primary isolation is carried out by the subframe bushes...whereas on a 2/3/7/900, the wishbone bushes have to do all the work, so have to be super-sloppy to avoid too much vibration / harshness.
Feel free to ask away if you have problems...I've run these things for nearly 5 years now, and still look after several.
If you like it...my V70R is back on the market, y'know

You can get T5 saloons on gas for that sort of money on a good day, too.
cheers
James

Cheers Foggy.
Says 20v on the engine hat?
Nothing feels broken to me. Hard to explain really. Like theres TOOOO much power steering? So that you dont really feel the road. If that makes sense?
Probly just me.
Not as slow as I first thought either. Just not as torquey as a Dturbo. Since I pulled out the folded up aftermarket floormat from under the loud pedal (

) and started booting it, its not a bad puller really.
If I could have got a T5 on gas for £500 squid, I would have been a veeeeeery happy boy. They really going that low? everyone get one!!!
The checkstrap is disconnected. Looks like there a bolthole on the doorside on a pivot, and one on the car, but no bolt between?
I'll get a pic tmorrow.
Got any floortrays Foggy?

Looking good mate, wind deflectors look good, a must really, once you've had them before IMO
For a little cheap mod, you seen the later (940? early s40?) clear style wing indicators? would look good on yours! maybe spray the metal round the rear number plate, under the boot black so it blend in with the lights. Maybe a bit of that fly-eye film over the back lights too? Linseed oil on the plastics looks like it will make a difference.
