Water damaged DSLR

Has anyone got any info about repairing a water damaged DSLR and costs of that?
I'm thinking that it is probably inside electronics that need to be replaced in such case, this case includes rain and has then been over a year unused, also it first stopped responding, then put garbage on screen and then shut off and is not waking up, so I'm thinking electronics just fried on that one, but I have no idea how generally expensive such repairs are and how much typically need to be replaced in similar cases.
I have had replacement quite some time ago already, but newer model from camera seems to be lot worse what it comes to low light photographing so would like to get older one fixed if that is even possible. Broken one is Nikon D40.
