Top Gear tonight

Post by Paula » 28 Dec 2011 10:44 pm

Maybe I am getting to become an old f**t, but ruining three perfectly good cars is not (in my book) funny at all.

If I had been one of their previous owners who had lavished hours of love and attention to them, I would have gone mad.

Sorry you three, you are no longer amusing but just three rather overgrown and stupid schoolboys.

G'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I agree.

I had been hoping for a fond and sympathetic portrayal of a beautiful and rich country along the same lines as their Vietnam trip, but instead it was all about the three of them being arses and could easily have been made in Surbiton - India had nothing to do with it.

It's a shame because I have been a huge fan of TG over the years, but this special just went too far down the scripted route for my tastes.

Agreed. I think they missed the boat by not getting the cars in India, and if they had to use a British Mini and XJS they should have been £700, not £7000 examples!

Meh, moaning about something that's been on TV for this long is a moot point. Of course it's getting worse, like every other show that runs this long; they've run out of ideas. Plus it's xmas "family entertainment". What do you expect?

I'm surprised you're surprised.

What's more, he's from Doncaster too, so that seams like near impossible then?

Although he rarely ever admits his origins, in fact I don't think he's even said the word 'Doncaster' since 1986.

Actually he's from Tickhill as far as I know, just outside Doncaster Town, but within the Boundary of Doncaster MBC.... much to his disgust I'm sure.

He returns for occasional Top Gear filming (recent Reliant Robin sketch).

Must admit I still sometimes watch it when I catch it, although it can be like watching wrestling in the 1970's, so staged and predicable. I think it's getting a bit tired.

I watch all the time, almost religously but I did feel this special went alittle far. Sometimes I do find it cringe and considering we all have to pay for a TV lisence we all have the right to express our opinion, just as we would for any other product.

I'm sure I've read that he's from Conisborough, but I suppose his family may have moved about a bit when he was younger.

I'm a great fan of TG and of Herr Clarkson, and I don't mind the show being scripted along with their challenges, but the previous specials have always made me eager to find out more about the countries they visit. The Vietnam special has made me add Vietnam to the list of countries I want to visit before I die, but the India special didn't really show anything about India as it was mainly the three of them cocking about. I know they're not travel documentaries, but a bit more of the rich, culture, humour, scenery and lifestyle would have helped.

As a piece of entertainment i thought it was great and i still enjoy top gear- i can understand how people feel about the cars though- but just think, we wouldnt of had "straight six cricket" otherwise! and without the modifications etc those cars wouldnt of got as far as they did
