Vario only one wheel drive?

I remember reading someone saying that vario is using both rear wheels to move like if it would have LSD or similar, but I put my vario on axle stands and started driving, only one wheel was spinning, one that was not I was filming at.

It did spin when I tried to reverse out from car tent, hill snow and old summer tires were too much for that, but certainly both wheels did try there, however when I lifted rear end up only one.

Forgot to test if it spins at all even at neutral when moved by hand, but I'm thinking maybe brake is stuck or vario system is not working properly, I know that it is more or less stuck on low speed mode, but that is something I'm planning to look a bit and that is why I put it on axle stands, however this thing now did strike as first surprise as other wheel did not even try to spin.

Motor is still purring well, need to adjust valves though, also starter seem to stick a bit, but motor sounds smooth and eager.

Oh and how come, insurance is well under 300 for vario and around 550 for 360, it does not make sense, mopeds here have higher insurance quotes than vario

Ah, bit of hitting with axe made both wheels to spin, nothing beats good scare once in a while.

I could not still find LSD feature, for me it seems to work just like normal open diff, I slow down one wheel and it slows down to stop while other one spins.

Low ratio switch seem to raise engine rpm at low rpm, but could not find if it does anything else, at higher rpm there is no effect at all.

Was one wheel binding perhaps?

I think that I'm about to learn new term again :P

If binding is that when brake is stuck, then yes, I forgot the handbrake on for whole winter and door unlocked too :D

It's a normal open diff on the (DAF) 46/66 and Volvo 300.

LSD effect is when there is a separate belt to each wheel and no diff, like the DAF 30/1/2/3, 44 and 55

For me it looks like that earlier (once again) is better system, it has even coil springs and no need of flywheel under it

Early type could be bit lighter and with some modifications to it, such could produce independent rear suspension without much more of unsprung weight than with front suspension, which is lot less than 340's axle setup.

Still working 'modern' type might be quite bit better than not working one :P

Earlier type does twist the belts under suspension movement and the camber changes a lot with the swing axle arrangement.

It should made so that secondary and primary are mounted to body, then driveshafts are fitted with CV joints so that secondary stays on place and wheels move, CV joints provide handling for changing angles, I think that would be optimal way to build such system :P

Oh, check out engine section, I put vario questions there, maybe you can know more possibilities to behavior than I have managed to figure out :D

Well that's basically what you have now

But only almost, diff and rear axle are one that would need to be removed, to get some LSD effect and to get less unsprung weight, also independent suspension, those make big difference.

Every time I touch brake it stucks, bah, probably need to take it apart, unless I can get it better on road and doing some braking.
