Hi all.
This weekend, myself and Mrs mchudd spent the weekend up on the
north Antrim coast just outside the little town called Bushmills.
This is where the oldest yum yum factory in the world is. Anyway, on Saturday
we paid a visit to Rathlin Island just of the coast at Ballycastle. As far as i know, this
is the only place in the UK where you do NOT have to MOT your car. So the reason i am posting this
is, does anyone know of anywhere else that you don't have to MOT your motor.

Island of Hoy, Orkney.

I'll find the list, but it's a number of tiny islands that are exempt.

(3) Pursuant to section 44(7) the Secretary of State hereby exempts from section 44(1) the use of a vehicle on any island in any area mainly surrounded by water, being an island or area from which motor vehicles, unless constructed for special purposes can at no time be conveniently driven to a road in any other part of Great Britain by reason of the absence of any bridge, tunnel, ford or other way suitable for the passage of such motor vehicle:
Provided that this Regulation does not apply to any of the following islands, namely, the Isle of Wight, the islands of Arran, Bute, Great Cumbrae, Islay, Lewis, Mainland (Orkney), Mainland (Shetland), Mull, North Uist and Skye.

So a load of Scottish islands, like Eigg

And there's a similar exemption to car testing here in the South for remote islands.
