Hello everyone on this forum. My name is Hans en live in the Netherlands in the Westland Area , near Hoek of Holland. The area is famous for its greenhouses. I have my second Volvo 340 now. My newest car is still superb looking, Volvo 340 DL, variomatic, B14.4E engine with only 67.000kilometers. This car has been always kept inside in a garage and has no rust. I am going to wax oil this car completely by a professional (Jan van Egmond in Alphen aan de Rijn). I think this is worthwhile but costs more than I have paid for the car, which was 500 euro. I now you can do the waxoiling yourself but with my bad back that is to difficult at the moment. I wish to drive this care for a long time.

Whith interest I am reading this forum in English. But because of not able to read French te frech part of this forum is not accecible. So I thought. But with althavista Bablefisch you can translate complete websites into Englisch or some other languages. Al the French pages and also the subpages are translated into Englisch and are not difficult to read.

There are two possibilities to do this.

1. Open the French forum. Copie the address and Open Bablefisch which address is; http://babelfish.altavista.com/ in Internet Explorer or Firefox. Paste the copied address of the French forum in the Bablefisch page, select from witch language to which language you want to translate en you can read the French forum in Englisch.

2. If you work with firefox it can be even more easy. The Bablefisch translater is available as a special extension called. Translate 0.6.0.7. Go to the extension page of firefox and around page 50 of the all extension list you can find Translate 0.6.0.7.

Info Translate 0.6.0.7
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/s ... &pageid=51
Small extension that either translates: web pages (via toolbar button) or selected text (via context menu) from several foreign languages into English, as well as 12 other languages.
Uses BabelFish and Google translation engines.

Install this extension and after you restart Firefox the extension is available. When you open the French forum. You open Extra and then translate and the French becomes translated into Englisch.
I hope this information will be useful for a lot of forum members. It is useful to me and I use it a lot

Hello Hans! And welcome to the forum!

We have now a lot of people from the Netherlands sm4 , that's a good thing for the country of the Volvo 300!

My GLT will also have a whole treatment against rust before using it on the road, and it will cost much more than what I ve paid for the car...

Thanks for your interesting piece of advice concerning the french forum, we have there more than 6500 messages, very interesting topics especialy for the technical section cause we have the KING of the Volvo 360 GLT (he did more than 500.000 km with his GLT), and he knows a lot about the 300 series...

I've tested your system, it helps to understand if you know some words of french... sm12

You are right. The translation is not perfect, but it works.. But perfect enough to understand what is written in French. So if you want to find interesting info in the french forum and you can not read french than this is the way to do it.

And the few words which are still in french are often not written correctly. But you can easely find on the internet what they mean by the way of a translation site such as Google or of course Bable fish again. Try to change a few letters in the word and probably you can find out what they mean..

succes Hans
