Clear windscreens

Today is the day!

The whole of S33 of the 1994 Vehicle Excise and Registration Act has been removed. So unless you have other junk to display (such as parking permits, and in NI, the MOT disc) you can now if you wish ditch your discs and have a clear windscreen to look out of.

Also note the changes when buying or selling a vehicle. Tax drops off a vehicle in such circumstances, so the new keeper has that to sort out and pay for on his/her new pride and joy.

Ah, long gone is the day when I had a clear windscreen to look out of. Green "Umweltstickers" and motorway toll stickers from countries all over Europe.

My only cars with no windscreen stickers are the Trabant (ahem, emissions?) and the DLS.

Cheers

Tom

I taxed in the last month for display and got it online, but it went to my flat where my ex lives with her husband. For general harmony lacking reason they decided to return to sender, probably to try and get me in trouble, so I also don't have one despite it being sent out.

Its great being able to check status and buy online, but I had to phone about the 360 as I didn't know its status, if sorn automatically continued or not. Got them all reregistered now.

Apparently the MOT disk requirement has been dropped now too (NI).

Thanks for the update, I see now that came into effect 6th April 2015 for NI.

Give it another 20 years and they might do away with all the crap (3 "discs") in the window down in the South.
