Hi guys, just thought i would post about my 1989 360 glt 4 door(unleaded and power steering) in white which I got 2 years ago. Bought it secondhand for £350 with a genuine mileage of 34000, body work was reaonable but doors weren't all that good so recently i bought 4 secondhand white doors in good condition but off a 340 so transferred the central locking and door handles complete(340 front doors had electric windows)and transferred the black wide plastic bumpstrips to the doors using Sikaflex(brilliant stuff, you can even stick metel to metal or even glass)however the 340 doors already had the narrow black bump strips higher up so rather than risk damage by removing them i kept them on, doesn't look too bad with 2 bump strips, then took the car to a panelbeater who did a repair to the drivers side rear wheel arch, did up the sills, spent ages polishing her now it looks a treat, mileage is now at a genuine 46000 odd, just put on a new complete exhaust, all the belts were done about 8 thousand miles ago, will keep it a few months but will probably sell it then, got 4 cars now so its getting a bit much,lol.

Good stuff, a low mileage 360 GLT can be a rare beast to find. THe bodywork will sadly fail before anything else. It's good to hear you've taken the time to replace doors and have some repairs done. Some pictures would be good, as Redline says. Enjoy it.

I hope the weather is better where you are in Scotland, as it isn't exactly nice here for taking photographs or working on cars! I've been dodging the showers this afternoon! Looking forward to seeing the pictures, and also how the door strips look, they should be well protected against people who insist on opening their doors onto the car parked next to them in a car park. The standard GLT bump strips were IMO just slightly too low, so on the line where it is vulnerable there isn't any protection, so the dents appear all along there normally.

Thanks guys, have put pics on the usual site, meant to say that I also sprayed Dinitrol rustproofing inside the doors, bonnet and boot and sills so that won't do any harm, chassis is in great condition as is the bonnet, hope pics are ok, Jim.

My two nice cars are going to get some serious Dinitrol treatement asap. Indeed it cannot do any harm unless you intend welding where you've sprayed it soon! It stops the old tinworm in it's tracks. Where can we find these pictures, also looking forward to them.

Thats what i want for my car. How much of this is roughly needed for 1 car?? Underside and for the doors etc??

I'd actually be interested to know amounts too! Only ever had little cans for small patches. I'm probably going to go OTT with it, but I believe there's a sticky waxy stuff for underbody treatment, then a penetrating oil for in the door cavities etc. So if anyone can help, such as jimbob69698 please do!
