What brand is my dashboard instrument panel?

Hi.

I have to order the part in the left front wheel, to the speedometer..
When I changed wheel bearings i accidently broke it.

And when i call Volvo they tell me there are two different manufacturers of the instrument panel, and they have to know what brand mine is to get me the right part..

Either VDO, or another brand he said.. I can't see anything on the front of the speedometer / instrument panel..

My car is a 87 360 GL with B200K.

Anyone who knows the brand of my panel?

Thanks.

Then you have the VDO gauges.

The other option he would have mantioned would be Smiths, but yours are indeed VDO as Randomhero stated! As Wouter says, the Stealership should have known this from the age of your car, or if provided with the chassis number.

My 'oar' in again.

In the UK the change from Smiths to VDO instruments came with the intro of the '86' year model (started at ch.no.120000) But on Nordic markets the change was earlier - at ch.no.099706 (late in the run of '85' year models).

If NasoNexs' car is an '87' his ch.no. will be above 241001 - so VDO without a doubt.

NasoNex - the part no. you need, I think is 32075601 - but there was a production change and I think this was replaced with - Cable 3207948, adapter 3208259 and clip 3120415. BUT I am a bit 'sketchy' on non UK cars so don't take this as gospel - CHECK with your dealer before ordering.
(your dealer should know all this anyway).

Good luck Mac.

Was the change really 1986? I've seen a fair few late Mk2's with VDO clusters and they were surely 1985's.

As for NasoNex's car, it'll most certainly be a VDO panel

Ooops' sorry for the senior moment - you're absolutly right Steve! In the UK VDO came with the '85' year model. (ch.000500 on). Nordic from ch.99706 - I think - I thi.. I er er.

My memory --- Who are you ? - er. who am I - oh bug..r I'll just go and dribble in my incontinance pads.

If the rev counter tops out at 8000rpm, it's a Smiths cluster. If it's 7000rpm with red inserts, it's VDO.

cheers
