NEW boy =D

hi guys and girls. My names jamie, live in winchester, hampshire. Been on here a while ago under different user name (jamlec) or something i couldnt even remember it let alone the password :lol:

im 17 soon to be 18 (when i get insurence from parents as it will be bit cheaper) and jumped from wanting one car to another etc etc, only to come back to volvo 340 when i remembered the fact there dam cheap to insure and tbh look kinda funky cool retro 8) and am now in position to buy. Ive got £700 or so and so thought id get my ass back on here to help my hunt! i am going for a 1.7 hopefully but will settle for a 1.4 if i have to. cant go for 2.0 cos im using it for 50 mile round trip to uni everyday and wana save on fuel bills =p been told to expect about 30+ mpg from a 1.4/1.7 sound bout right? well thats me so hi :D

You coming down to Soton from Winchester? If the cars running well, combined you can look at around 30, long runs are where they excel, town isn't great at all.

£700 will see you a good car with at least the tax disc on top.

yeh lol be motorway or back roads. Either southampton uni or solent depends what i get in my coming exams. u like near by? hopefully ill find a 350 soon. 4th july will be day i get insurence and get to be free on 4 wheels (currently ride a motorbike)

Welcome back, me and chris are both in southampton and there are a couple more close by. £700 ought to get a good car with tax and test.

hum..... looks VERY tempting not to far from me either! and chance of getting it Mot if i payd extra for the windscreen? just bit of a risk i really cant take. unless there be some way of u bringing it to my local garage i work in it =p) for them to check out... im near town called alresford duno if u know of it just as a guage for how far i am... could be a winner :D

sounds like a plan, realisticly (theres a difference) what do u expect from average MPG say worst best and average. u say no tax? is so how much is that for 12 months, cheers J

Try asking the local trade places. Up here, I know a guy who can do a windscreen for more or less anything for £80 or so, cash.

That's a sweet car. Don't be too put off by the 2.0 models - the carb ones (especially the later B200K....not exactly sure of the numbers on the B19A cars like that one) are pretty good on fuel on a run. I managed 45-50mpg over a few hundred miles from mine several times. Insurance isn't usually much more, either.

quickly turning into a rather expensive 360 with NO tax. :shock: .. need to think bout it :?

350 for car
30 for mot (fine)
180 for windscreen is bit much!
then another 180 for tax...
