Please don't bid on this?

Post by AUTOMAN » 08 Sep 2009 10:44 pm

Hello all,

I just thought I would show you what I found on ebay and then beg you all not to bid on it, as I have been looking for one of these for such a long time. This is even in the colour that I want.

Sorry to the seller if you can see this, but I am bursting to own this car and your auction states that you won't end early.

The engine don't look like a B20 to me. I bet a 360 with a B20 would go very well though.

Hope you win it for sensible money.

I know it's a 3dr Glt but surly what its at now is sensible money for the condition of it? The radiator leaks due to a popped core plug in the block? Surely that would be the block thats leaking then? Broken seat mech, clearly rusty front wings plus rears as mentioned in the description.

It must sound like i'm trying to put you off, i'm not but i think you'd be better finding a decent base car, and spraying it to that colour if thats what your after. The cost of fixing this one up would surely surpass that of finding a better example?

I doubt if it's of any help but i know a 5dr Glt in the same colour which has sat for longer and is in better cond.

Whats the matter with the car i'm driving can't you tell that it's out of style?

Thanks for that chaps. For those that don't know, I have a 3-door 360gl, which will make a great base car if re-shelling is the best option.

I am so happy that Volvo owners take the trouble to give advice, it is extremely reassuring, so thank you all verry much.

So sorry Jeff, If I had known that somebody on here was thinking about buying this car,I would not have bid. I know that this may be cheaky, but after you have seen the car, I would love to hear what your thoughts were regarding it and its condition.

Also, I don't even know where in the country it is, as ebay have been testing this new look and it does not say where the items are located.

Yeah it does man.

Weston super mare.

Right hand side, three or four inches from the top of the listing.

To be fair, they HAVE moved the location indicator.
But not far.

No problem sir. Do you have a 360 at the moment? I am thinking out loud here, but if anybody misses out on this car because of me, I would be quite happy to sell my GL for the same price as I may have to pay for the GLT. My GL is in a lot better condition and that may mean that nobody will have to miss out. I hope this sounds fare.

hi mate

i been and looked at the car and it will need a lot of work....put hand underneath and my fingers went through on the drivers side...not sure if engine any good, after that core plug as he never bothered to start it...
it looks like its had welding in front and rear wheel arches before as looks plated.
rear wheel arch not good either, and behind front wing that has bad rust, looks like its started to eat the inner arch as well...
sunroof is a factory fit metal one rusted almost all over...
good parts
fog lights, grill, spoilers front and rear....maybe a few more odd things....
but please don't take my word for it have a look your self..

cheers
jeff
