Isn't it odd, I just found out about music artist that she is from Sri Lanka and then I see new member from Sri Lanka, funny coincident :D

Congrats from your purchase of fine automobile, it should be rather simple to fix if anything goes wrong and fairly reliable :D

MCHUDD, even I did found 340 from sri lanka, with air condition

Welcome!

I was in SL in Dec/Jan and saw a couple of 340's kicking about, plus a few for sale on local websites. I'd love to see some pics just incase yours was one of those I saw.

Due to the horrendous import duties even old 340's are still worth £2800-3000 which to us Westerners is incredibly expensive, but when compared to what else is available locally isn't actually too bad. Volvos are seen as 'rich man's cars', due in part to their rarity. My great uncle has one of only 3 XC70's in SL (his was the first) and is forever getting questioned about it.

I imagine that a 300 is actually not a bad car to have as it has a bit of road presence, certainly something that the truly horrible Toyota Alion I hired lacked. Just take care of it and mind out for those three wheelers!!
Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

I brought the car for £1000, 1986 year 1300CC engine ,It has not been used for 7months .I will post some pic after I get the insurance

European cars less popular because of very expensive spare parts(it is even very difficult to sell )Japanese spares are cheap

As you said must be careful with three wheel (Indian Junk) :o

Some 340/360 models had PAS, but I don't think it was very common and I doubt that 1.4 or very rare 1.3 never had one?

It would be easiest to get parts from 300 series car, pump pulley lineup and PAS steering rack could be quite challenge to fit properly from other car, also there were some differences in other parts which are needed?

Strut top mounts might be gone bad, if there are cracks in rubber then they are gone, that causes heavy steering and is something worth to check out. Getting good strut top mounts is bit of difficult as Volvo does not make anymore and spare parts shops have never had those, so best option is custom made.

It just stresses springs as strut top bearing is not one providing turning, whole upper spring cup turns and also spring, when you turn wheel, with good strut top mounts springs stay on place and steering is much better when you don't need to fight against springs. I would say it is rather important to fix that, but it is also quite expensive, at least in here as our labour costs are way too high compared to general income level.

Hi Shamil.
If you are desperatly stuck, i have a 1988 B14 distributor spare.
However it would probably cost more to post than what its worth.
