Volvo radio for my '89 340 GL please.

The "new" car came with a perfectly functional CD player/radio in the radio slot, and it certainly does the job, more so when considering that this is the first car I've owned with any form of entertainment in the dash since about 2004, but I'd really like to find and fit whatever Volvo themselves would have supplied for the car when it was fresh from the showroom.

Doesn't have to be working, I have a soldering iron or three and know my way around the innards of such things, but would like one that looks the part even if not making music.

Thanks for posting the pic, Tom, that appears to be an earlier type of thing altogether, like a DIN 'D' spindle mount set, but in what appears to be a chunk of the dashboard to adapt the wireless to a larger hole. The '89 car has a standard, DIN 'E' slot in the dash so either of the sets shewn in the brochure image above will fit and both have PLL tuners with presets.

ive got one in t garage from my old 88 340 dl dont know if it works or not it was in the boot when I got the car, so your more than welcome to it, if your ever up by berwick or next time im down the A1

All post '83 300's have the same large radio hole as Volvo 700s (and maybe 900's?, not sure of those) but the later cars had a kind of "reducer panel" like these:

to reduce the slot for a "standard" DIN slot radio.

Thanks Tom, so are the sets in the brochure (the DIN 'E' ones) all optional extras then, and not in fact those that would have been fitted ex-showroom? If that's the case; I may as well fit a 1988 National Panasonic one that I have sitting about spare.
OK, not Volvo-branded, but of the period and easier to fit in place of the CD player that came with since the harness fits straight into it.

Yes, they were all optional extras, I'm not sure which radios were fitted as standard in the UK ...
