340 Gearbox, Prop Shaft and rear axel

Post by jas1159 » 08 Jul 2011 08:36 am

As said in the title I am looking for a 340 Gearbox, Prop Shaft and rear axel and anything else you can suggest that i will need to place this into a rwd kit car with an F7R engine,

I am located in Bristol but willing to travel and collect for the right price :)

Thanks
Jase

It would probably be cheaper and easier for you to buy a 1.7 340 donor car than trying to get the bits individually. A 1.7 sump fits straight on and is correctly baffled for running in a longitudinal orientation, the 1.7 engine mounts would probably be much easier to mount to a kit car than the Renault ones, but they are not the nicest design.

Is there not another option for mounting this engine RWD though? The 340 uses a single piece aluminium propshaft with female splines rubber bonded in to the ends, the rubber is prone to failing if the propshaft becomes misaligned. If you're looking to use very firm or solid mounts for your kit car and spend a lot of time getting the alignment between the clutch and gearbox input shafts correct then you probably won't have any trouble from it.

Thanks for the reply,

I wish i could buy a donor car but i just dont have the room :( I have two clios outside and plan to sue the bits from them as much as possible.

I just need the main components, tbh looking for anything that will fit an F7R engine as i have an awsome F7R that i spent a year re-building ide like to use.

Is it necessary to change the sump?!
