I've been contacted by a chap interested in using 340 1.4s for banger racing. I know banger racers get a bad name, but he's enthusiast-friendly, and has helped a number of people (myself included) get parts from a terminally rotten 164 he's racing. To me it's no different to weighing in a shell once you've had all the good parts off it.

Does anyone (Theo?) know of any 1.4s in the South West which are no longer any good for the road?

If for any reason, more than one is available, then I would be interested. Mot failures aren't a problem, nor is the engine.

As long as the drivetrain is good, that is just about all I need.

The plan is to fit the 340 drivetrain into a kit car, in the usual configuration (front engine, rear gearbox). Then bolt the 340 bell housing to a very crazy Volvo 480 engine (t3/4 hybrid turbo, and eaton m45 supercharger, circa 380bhp at 3bar boost).

This is being done on a budget, or I'd be using quafe gearboxes and the like, or if anyone local wants to put a 480 turbo engine into a 3series, I could help out in payment for parts?

If its a whole car, then any parts not required, would be available.

Considering I recognise the username from another forum, I'm really hoping you find some parts soon chap. That engine showed a huge amount of awesome!

I hope so too. Ive made a new topic here, with a few pics. Hopefully it will work out.

I have also thought of dropping the engine into a 340, but its going to be really hard to lighten it as much as the little kit car.
