rubber grommets for 360 fuel pump

Post by mitchy360 » 02 Sep 2012 08:14 am

the three rubber grommets that the mounting screws for the fuel pump\filter assembly plate screw into...stops vibration that cause the fuel line after the pump to come loose!... :| :360:

Carb or injection?

Injection pump, I think they are the same as the air box mounting rubbers in the engine bay (little rubber towers).
Carb the fuel pump is hard mounted to the engine, maybe you mean the pressure regulator/filter assembly.

ya fuel injection. still wondering what could have caused the fuel line to come loose in the first place..

now that ive gone and replaced the leaking fuel pump and filter, she wont start :( i cant get a full filter of fuel and although the pump has power and is pumping some fuel inside, there's nothing coming out the other side of the pump non-return valve. going to drain the tank and clean both the outlet and the bridging hose between the two sides of the tank..perhaps theres just not enough fuel in the tank to prime it properly?
did the 360 have an in-tank fuel pump? or filter?

bump but any help would b really appreciated :D

The pressure pipe on the output really should not come loose. The clamps and rubber mounting are just there to isolate the pump from the car to keep it quiet. The rubber mounts do get pretty bad after 20+years, as do all rubber items.

No in-tank pump in the 360 injection, thats why the fuel comes out of the bottom of the tank. It should prime through gravity, if the cross pipe is blocked less fuel in will bring the level higher.

If you take the bigger outlet pipe off the bottom of the tank, loads of fuel should come out. And if you test the pump with the output pipe open, again loads of fuel should come out under power.

What is the non-return valve?

BTW I'm not sure there is an in-line filter (except the big one in the engine bay), there has been a discussion on it. The module that looks like a filter might be a problem if it not a suitable replacement (small CSA or something). I think there might be a small mesh filter on the pick up.
