Sunroof parts: guides 3269076 and 3269077

Hi all,

can anyone help with some sunroof parts? The parts I need are

Guide, left 3269076
Guide, right 3269077

which is part number 4 in this diagram:



That white block is made of plastic and is split ...



... which means there's not enough pressure being exerted on the metal pin (12) so the sunroof on my GLT isn't sealing properly. It's not leaking (yet) but the wind noise at autobahn speeds isn't so great.

Does anyone know if any GOLDE parts from another car would fit? The sunroof panel seal is the same as a VW 1303, Scirocco 1, Golf 1 etc. so I'm hoping there might be other similar parts too ...

Tom, are there any Golde part numbers on said blocks?

I suppose if push came to shove you could find a machine shop wizard to recreate the blocks in metal. My quick look at the VIDA shows the blocks as an assembly with the cables. Might be time for some two-part epoxy resin...

You're right, they're all in one piece together with the cables. There are no Golde numbers on them. Unfortunately, the previous owner has already tried sticking / glueing the things, and it hasn't helped much.

I guess to recreate them, they'd need to be removed from the car which isn't really an option at the moment as I need it to have it on the road ...

I found an online shop in the states which claimed to have them in stock, but they refunded my money very quickly. I guess it would have been too good to be true ...

I'd love to get some answers on this. Them blocks ALWAYS split. It's been a while but since they're attached to the cables I'd definitely agree with starting by looking towards VW and other similar vintage german manufacturers that tended to have these Golde roofs fitted.

It's been a while since I did the job on my black GLT but seem to remember you can remove the majority of the mechanism and wedge the back of the panel up with a block of wood or similar.

Could try this if the car has a sunroof, likely that it hasn't as it looks an early Mk3 (no injection badge, earlier seat pattern :S) but maybe worth a shot.

If nothing turns up, you might have to bite that bullet, as has been mentioned, you can do that and wedge it up temporarily.

Mark - I'd love to have those parts off you. If you have them, I'd need both sides, including the attached cables ... Will PM you.

There's a VW parts place in Bonn which specialises in NLA VW parts http://www.vw-entfallteiledienst.de/ it might be an idea to try asking them, particularly if I can show them the removed part.

Sunroofs are a hassle, but when working, they're a real pleasure when the weather's good ...

Absolutely agree, it's a shame that the trend nowdays is that 'you have aircon, you now don't need a sunroof'! You should only have to do it once anyway if the replacement blocks are in good order

I went back to Lakes yesterday and had a look at the '87 they had with a sunroof for you (http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... 6&start=45). Unfortunately, the sunroof mechanism seems to be completely broken, and the roof itself has been siliconed shut (presumably because of the same problem as you).

Having said that Sion, I wonder if the knackered bits on the scrap car are still in place and serve as a pattern...

Just thinking out loud, which is a dangerous thing a) at this time of the morning and b) on a Sunday too.

Thanks for looking, Sion! Mark sent me the two cables he had. One is fine, but the block on the other is cracked. The parts are complete, so I guess it could serve as a pattern, but I don't really know where I'd go to get a cable and a plastic block fitted ...
