Light cluster, instrument cluster or some other cluster?

Hi Logan.
There are four different types in the 15 year production run.
Need to know the year of the car.
76-78 78-82 82-85 85-91.
Cheers Mark.

Ta for the finer info.
Mark must have the uncanny ability to read minds.
There's sort of more than four, because for example the 1.4 MY79-82 instrument panel can be found it at least three versions.
If you're prepared to do the wiring and get the right senders (ir required to match the panel), then basically there are two dashboard holes. Up to MY82 and MY83 onwards. But life is a lot easier if a set of clocks from the appropriate year are plonked in as all the sender units will be correct as will the speedo cable connector.

The cluster surround does not have a light switch / demister switch attached to it... It might appear that way on a late one, but the switch is miles away on an '81.
Tell the guy they're made of unobtainium, because it's not for a car...

Not for a car?just saw your pm. it's the bit tat holds the cluster assembly in the dash. on a 360 it has fog light rear demister and headlights attached to it.

I know the part you mean on a 360, but it doesn't exist on a 1981.
Here's a 360 Smiths panel from a 1983 car.

The surround holds the cluster in place along with a metal strip.
This is completely different to the earlier cars, which have two screws that screw straight into the dashboard aperture and hooks in at the bottom.

There is no surround that holds it in. THERE IS NO SURROUND THAT HOLDS IT IN!
The only "surround" that those instruments have is the actually a plastic housing that holds the clocks / circuit wiring / dash lamps.

Hi Logan.
When i get time sometime this week, i will take a few pics of the dash on my 1981 Banana.
The light switch is down to the right of the cluster.
Cheers Mark.
