RUBBER RING FOR ONE SIDE OF EXHAUST

I need a rubber ring that holds one side of the exhaust to the car at the rear end as my old one has split. I may try super glueing it back together? The part number is 224353...

I suppose I could always use a zip-tie although that'll probably be an mot failure?...

The number moulded on it is a legacy number from the DAF days.

The actual Volvo part number was 3100099, but I think they are an obsolete part. Go down to your local motor factors / parts accessory shop / ebay / Halfords and ask for:

Bosal 255-397 or equivalent.

I bought two the other day from my local factors and they were only 74 eurocent each (60 cent + 23% VAT here)

Many thanks...

Would a zip-tie be an MOT failure?...

I'd imagine so. its not OE and the exhaust heat may well melt it.

Hi Justin,
Halfords do generic fit brackets, they're about £1.30 each and they've gotten plenty of my cars through MOTs.

If you're really stuck...

Thanks everyone, amazingly super glue has held and joined the ring back together!

Its actually just a medium sized oval shaped rubber ring that sits right at the far back of the car connecting one side of the exhaust to the body...

I'd get that replaced fairly soon, the constant vibration on the rubber whilst under tension and with a weak spot will eventually break it open. This time it might be on the road and you'll have to replace it anyway.

Not to mention exhausts are a lot more expensive than rubber rings when they fatigue.

Blimey. Im still not convinced I can source one as the part name and number that macplaxton kindly supplied (Bosal 255-397 ) comes up with a much thicker rubber ring with two holes inside it when typed into ebay as opposed to a medium sized oval rubber ring?...

I had a look at the Halfords ones yesterday and they are apparently 50mm, will this do?...
