Big ends for '86 B200E
Yeah I guess there was no real change from 1986 to 1987 was there, apart from the engine conversion from high compression to low compression and the ignition control unit being changed.
And thanks from me too Will. A second pair of hands is always useful. Have you got some sort of crane or method of getting the engine out, Peter?

A B200K had a change of camshaft too (oh no!!), but the 'E' just altered compression. Of course I'd check they didn't sneak some other stuff in there too
A visual inspection ought to be enough.

Like Volvo would know
As far as I can tell the later low compression motors had the hotter Y cam, and the earlier high compression motors had the L cam. All will be revealed in a month or two when I remove my cam to make way for the K! JTBO has a Y in his B200K, but then his is Nordic...

Hi pettaw, well, that is where the problem is really, I don't have a crane or lift my end, so that's why I suggested you had the shell on wheels, as it sounds as though you have the lifting equipment your end! There is an alternative, I could possibly manage to arrange a lifting device in the form of a chain on a tractor bucket hook! Could be possible, with some rearranging! Loading into your car is my main concern!

The K is a lot hotter - you've got 2mm more lift than an A for a start. Timed straight up you don't hit the power until 3500 or so, and its a riot from 4500 up! In the B23E it made 136bhp, and 122 in the B19RS.
Just out of interest, where did you get the green book from? Something like that would be of great interest to me if I could get a copy.
Regarding the block...pull the manifolds (you don't want those anyway), pull the head, then the shortblock is a fairly easy two person lift. It's a one man lift if you're desperate enough. Job done
cheers

When you say the whole set....I presume you mean for all the various models? To begin with I'd only be interested in the 300 series one. How did you go about getting the AC one? Just get in touch with customer relations?

no,no, the books are divided up into sections, one for the B14 engine, one for the B172 engine, one for the transmission, one for the clutch, one for the suspension. etc etc etc.
I'll bring the set with me to a meet if you want although they're a bit tatty now as they were left out in the rain OOPS! Still readable though, although the first page of the specifications book didn't survive.
