Potential New 360 owner...

Post by Con2K »

Hi there, I'm possibly going to be buying a D-reg volvo 360 GLT next week that a friend is selling. Its a red 4 door saloon GLT with 12mnths MOT, 6Mnth tax, new tyres, new exhaust, 1 previous owner, FVSH and 63k on the clock. Is there anything in particular I should look out for and also whats it worth? I must admit its not a car I had my heart set on but its a friend selling it, makes a nice change from 3 and 5 doors and I am interested if the price is right.

Some may slate me for this comment but I will probably use it as a tramp drifter for afew months and already have another car as a daily drive. It'll be my 1st rwd car in my name so I can give it sum stick and see how much it bites without worrying about getting to work in it the next day etc. I doubt it'll be stripped but wouldnt mind a welded diff and a tad lower if I do get it!

All I know is it doesnt have the front lip spoiler that the GLT's should do. I assume its an injection also, I dont even know what toys it comes with, PAS, leccy windows etc?? Not that it matters much.

I've recently moved to Somerset from Newcastle Upon Tyne so wouldnt mind getting involved with afew of the trampdrift events going on. Any legal practice would be great! As I said its not my only car but have been looking for some budget RWD for awhile now to have a go with and a friend recently bought a 360 so I suppose that pushed me away from the usual E36 BMW route.

Thanks v.much!

If you are looking to tramp drift then a volvo 300 is for you. As to what to look for when buying this car please make sure it is not to good. Good examples of these are now starting to fetch good money and there are the collectors out there.

As to what the car you are looking at is worth it will all come down to condition.

welcome to the forum man.
If its a glt itll have pas, leccy fronts, fogs, spoiler, 2litre inj, heated seats, probly leccy mirrors, sunroof.

Check the sills, rear jps, vallance, bonnet leading edge, arches for brown crusty smeg, therell be SOME, but hopefully not loads.
If you want a hand looking round it, give us a shout.
Theres a few forum members around the doors.

and when you get sick of it, i'll have it for bits.....

*Edit, and Dais right. If its a good un, dont thrash it.
I can sort you a rough drifter if thats all you want.

Theres no point killing a good car............................. when there plent of scraggy ones asking for it. :D

Cheers for the quick replies! I dont mind selling the car on if its 'that' good and someone really did want it to take more care of it than I know I would but I'll have a look and if its good enough for me, I'm sure I'll stick afew pics up online so you can all give your honest opinions. I've got Mk4 and Mk1 Fiesta's also so I'm not too scared by rust and bubbling etc.

You're in newcastle mate, you r bound to know my good mate Liam then with the A-reg GLS (blame him for my new volvo interest).

As for giving me a hand to go have a look, it would be handy but its in somerset so I'll use my current car knowledge and the pointers from you guys and see how things go! Fingers crossed!

Aye, PikeyMod Liam is known to me. (OapEM username on here).
Love his Silver GLS an all. He was talking about letting it go........................ would be a crime. :360:
Sommerset IS a bit far for me like, but a meet up at a pub somewhere when you get it back could be an idea.

Think the local recond currently stands at 3 volvo 300s in one carpark at one time.
that needs to be smashed.

Well if I do get it and the missus stops saying 'I wouldnt be seen dead in that heap' then I may use it for a journey north to meet up with its other 300 friends around christmas if it lasts that long. I tend to hold onto my cars for awhile when I get them assuming I have the space, money, allowed to!! haha

I will update you all with the car situation early next week then guys!

Mainly as above, only thing to note is a D plated GLT won't have that many toys, no pas, electric mirrors (maybe not electric windows too?)

Good luck with it
