Anyone know what size the door pins are on a 3door?

the dia. is obviously in the expanded state - the hinge bore being rather smaller.

Still available, at a very low price, 4 weeks ago ...

I sometimes wonder why hinge pins, of all things, are still available when so many other parts have been discontinued. Maybe because they don't take up much storage space?

I'd imagine they are shared with a lot of other models, else they would have gone! Must go and get me some, I keep forgetting

Sometimes it's really obvious why a part is still around, you Google "Volvo 123456" and you find out your part is fitted to a Penta outboard (some bearings for example) or a 2/7/900 series car (some gearbox gaskets). With the hinge pin (or the "tensioner" it's listed as) all that ever comes up is a V300 part. Maybe they just forgot to strike them off the list

Picked up my door pins today. 92p each but i still cant get the old ones out as they have rusted solid! i soaked them in plusgas and im going to try again tommorow. Anyone else got any tips?

I've had them changed on two cars before, never actually done them myself. I think it can be difficult, (or so I was told at the time). Sorry, that's not much help! I might be wrong (it was a long time ago) but I remember something about heating them up to free them and driving them out with a special tool? I know the rainwater gutter gets in the way when I looked at trying them myself.

Yeah, im trying to use a door pin removal tool to avail. and unfortunatley heat isn't really an option because of the paint.

The draper style door pin removal tool is pretty damn useless for this job, the 300 special tool is much better and makes the job lots easier. I can't remember how much Volvo charge for them, but there are a couple on the forum you may be able to snadger somehow?

The top one can be hammered out with a good straight punch from above, You may need to move the plastic trim out of the way. Get it half way out then put the new one in and hammer it down.

The bottom one needs the removal tool and removed upwards. I managed 2 with mine (draper) before it was destroyed. Luckily that was all I needed.

I have now got the door off thanks to the pins breaking but still cant shift the old pins, what so special about the volvo tool? it looks the same as my non volvo (laser) which turns out is the same as the draper one

Yes the hinge pins are all the same. 3 doors or 5.
