Evening Chaps.
Just a quick question here - to put my mind at rest.....
I've just insured my 360GLT (Fully-Comp grand total of 242 Aussie dollars, damn cheap!) and since its been over two weeks since last years insurance expired, my insurance company have told me to get it inspected by a local garage.
When I asked why, they told me that this is simply to check to see whether the car has been involved in any sort of accident in those two weeks whilst uninsured but were a little vague about it.
Over here, the car rego fee includes third-party insurance as standard, and being Western Australia - there is no yearly MoT test - as long as the car is kept registered it is deemed roadworthy.
Anyway, Will the garage check Mechanical worthiness of the car or just check for any recent body damage? Have any other Aussie members gone through this? Am I just worrying about nothing?
The car is basically sound, with the usual shopping trolley dings, but I do have a hairline crack on one of the rear light lenses and one of the front bumper-to-wing brackets has broken. Nothing that can't be bodged together.....

Re: Aussie Car Insurance Inspection?
Not being from austrailia I cant be certain, but I'd guess its more like a check as you said, to make sure its not had an accident. I would guess that a cracked lens, dings, dents etc wouldnt matter. But also mechanically, I would have thought wear and tear is not claimable on insurance so shouldnt be of any concern to them.
I could be wrong but I wouldnt worry too much. But they may startlooking for cracks along chassis legs etc.
