1.7 340 running rubbish please help???

hey all
my 1.7 340 wont run right when i start it it will idle fine for about 30 seconds then go all lumpy then when i drive it it will only be smooth on full throttle if i give it half throttle it will jerk the whole car making it very difficult to hold at one sped then when i push the clutch it cuts out and its near impossible to reverse without revving the tits off it
any ideas?

does a pull on the choke make any difference?

i'm thinking false air, in 1.7 words a bend carb foot

I had a similar problem some time ago with my B17 engine:
It started, had ignition failures, died after a very short distance driving and could be restarted only when cold again.
It turned out that the carbon pencils in the distributor cap were worn out.
Accordingly, Isuggest that you check the disctributor cap.

I bet its the carb warped, letting a mega air leak in. Do a search on air leaks. Could also be dirt in the carb, or burnt out dizzy cap, but number 1 bet is warp of carb.

well i took the carb off stripped it down cleaned it and put it back together and still no difference
if i give it half throttle the revs go up then drop then go up then drop as if im revving it on and off but im not
what do i do if it is warped? i also took the distributor cap off and cleaned it and soaked the ignition wires with wd40
someone please help
