B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
Hey guys, well I gave good old Vince a good service today, changed oil and filter, patched up the blowing exhaust and one of the other jobs was to change the aux belt.
I already bought a belt from Halfords (Using there system to get the "correct" one) which was a "1225" length belt. I took the old belt off took the tension right off the alternator and attempted to fit the new belt to which it just wouldn't go on!
I checked the old belt for any numbers and it had "1235" stamped on it which would explain the difference between the two. I went to Halfords to see if they had this size belt but it didn't even exist as a part on their system. So in the end had to put the old one back on which i'm not too happy about as it doesn't look in the best condition at all.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? I don't spose anybody could check the belt on their B14 engine and see what length belts are being used on yours please??
Thanks guys!

9,5x1213 for chassisno <609999 old style waterpump / flat crankshaftpulley
9,5x1238 for chassisno >610000 new style waterpump / offset crankshaftpulley
should be available though, 9,5x1240 or 10x1240 will do too.

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
ARGH I was just about to make a whiney post about changing my belt aswell! Am in the middle of it right now!
Having the same problem, can't get the dam thing on - it's way too short!
Hmm.. volvo D spec, would I be right in saying that the engine in your avatar has on off-set crank pulley? Judging by what you have posted, I think I have been supplied with the wrong belt..
The replacement appears to be 1215 and the old one was 1235, only just noticed this after your post (thanks!)
Pain in the balls though as I have to put the old belt on and it's squealing like a pig as it is
Got it from eurocarparts aswell, I expected better! Anyone on here know where to source one if ECP don't have one?

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
1215!? Thats way too short, glad to hear yours is the same length as mine though! It's a bugger having to put the old one on isn't it, mines crusty as hell and don't trust it one bit! My gf lives just around the corner from a "Car Spares" store so I think i'm going to try there but i'll check what the belt length is on their system before I go ahead and buy it. If I come up with anything I'll let you know

If you get no luck you may as well get that one.. seems the right size and shizz
Got no funds atm, but if its still there in a couple of days I'll be having it
Hows the Polo going by the way mate, still got it?!

240 740 and 340??
hmmm. 240 and 740s are common parts but 340s?
I'd be surprised if the belts were the same.
But im often wrong.

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
Not really sure on inter-model compatibility, but I'm just going by the sizes the dude has listed - 10 X 1238
Seems to match up with what volvodspec posted up as the right sizes.
Plus in that listing, way down the bottom in the description the seller basically says along the lines of 'I'm not actually sure what exact model it will fit, so you buy on account of the size, and not the models I state'. Maybe he just put all the other model numbers in to get more views?

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
Dunno. The local Motonet sold me a "1235 mm" belt which actually was a 1238mm belt, Quinton Hazell QBA1238. The same length of belt is apparently used on the 240- and 740-series D24 (Diesel) engine.

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
yep, you've all been given the belt for old style b14 coolant system, this pops up first in their screen.
however, the 9,5x1235/1238 should be present too. and the casshier should see the difference according to chassisno!

Re: B14 Auxiliary Belt Length
Hey guys just a random bit of info. Car Spares supplied me with the correct belt for just under £5
Just been out and fitted it and all is good!
Just for reference should anyone need to get one, it's a Gates item, Car Spares Part No. GFB6282MC
