360 alternator

My alternator's making the most hilarious selection of whining, clunking and clattering noises. While this is fairly entertaining, I think I need a replacement before it spits its dummy out completely. Anyone got a cheap one before I spend big on a recon unit?

would one from a B200e volvo 240 fit? - cos I have one from that car and the alternator was good as gold.

Does £25 posted. sound reasonable

or a deal on a glt spoiler?

Damn, I've just spent £50 on a new chinese one off ebay. I think the 240 ones are different, but if anyone can offer info I might still be interested in a deal for that spoiler I have lying around.

I did just today hit one 240 alternator with hammer while 360 alternator was next to it, will check tomorrow if there were any differencies (from memory those were very much alike, but one bolt hole, one in 'arm' might be different, actually that arm might be bend to other direction, but will check), don't know if there were different alternators for PAS and no PAS 240 as I think alternator is on other side of engine with no PAS version. Mine is from PAS diesel, bosch unit, brush rings are totally dead. My 360 alternator has failiure of clip that connects brushes to inner parts, so I'm trying to open 240 one to take few parts and move them into 360 alternator, but can't get damn thing to open.

It is very close, there are differencies, but are they too much?

One that has pulley and missing parts from rear is from 360, other one is from 240 diesel with PAS, so it has been at same location as with 360, however engine is VW diesel, Volvo code D24, redblock alternator can be different or same.
