I have 1 x new 1.7 engine for sale. it is the later type 87 on i think.
It is new from a volvo agent. and a fraction of the cost.
The cost of the engine is £200.00 and delivery can be arranged UK mainland, cost depends on your post code. ranging from £55.00 to £100.00

wow - you really do have some top kit lying around dont ya mate :)

half tempted by that - not that i need one - but unfortunatly i know that if i did an engine swap the insurance would be right up me arse :(

I'm potentially interested Kieth. My dad's car does this weird thing on cold mornings, on first start it sounds as though something is partially seized when you first start it and is really struggling. Then it makes this clunking noise and suddenly the revs come up and it goes fine. We've changed the starter but its still doing it.

Anyway, it might be good just to have in the back garden as a spare if the time comes.
