Hi everyone,
Does anybody have any expeience of 123 distributors? They have a model - the B16 RV -that covers B4, B14 and 16- seems to be a very wide range of engines to cover and the blurb states that it replaces the original Bosch. Didn't the B14 come with a Ducellier unit? There is another- the 4RV -that covers Renault Cleon engines - basically the same-ish engine as the B14 but smaller for renault 4's and the like.
I'm about to use a late B14 engine but without the Renix it was originally fitted with so I will need a dizzy- 123 looks ideal but getting the wrong one would be a pretty expensive mistake. Anyone know if they're any good and which one to use with the 1400 engine?
Cheers
Graeme

Re: 123 ignition
PM Tero Huikko and ask him perhaps? He got one for his Volvo 66. See thread HERE
Check the curves in the green book against 123's. If in doubt, pay the extra for a TUNE model which has a USB socket and you can program custom 2 curves into it.
Very expensive though, so why dump the Renix? Or alternatively, go for something like a MegaJolt?

Re: 123 ignition
The 123 unit was originally designed as a replacement for older contact breaker units. Unless you plan to tune the engine with other carbs or cams and need a custom setup, I can't see how the 123 would improve on the standard supplied Renix unit. Check http://www.123ignition.nl/ and leave Aryan a message on the forum if you have specific questions, he's a very helpful guy.
Re: 123 ignition
Thanks both- I'll follow both those up.
I'm not using the Renix because the engine's going into a Renault not back into another 340. The flywheel on the Renix-equiped engine is too deep and not compatible with a Renault gearbox. I'd love to use the Renix but it just won't go because I can't use it without the flywheel sensor. I thought next best thing would be the 123 unit but I don't want to spend all that money for nothing
